*Sarcasm Mode*
Oh yeah! Cos if ELF says it it must be true!!!
Let's face it, Elf isn't the brightest, most observant of people.
And IC told us not to believe everything Elf says!!! (and considering Elf's oblivousness, that's excellent advice)
KSL
Maruman agreed [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
Yeah, but he's nuts!!!
[img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>
KSL
I'm sorry! The above was all slightly rude!!!
The thing about Obernet is that we keep exploring the same theories over and over because there's always someone who disagrees (and I'm as guilty as anyone)!
IC REALLY needs to write that book!!! She's driving us all mad! She's probably having a good laugh at our confusion!!!
KSL
PS. Mornirdragon, I LOVE your sig btw!!! Who's the little Dragongirl?
Hopefully no one ever really takes anything to heart, KSL. We're not nasty here! (Otherwise I'd have a few words to say about why sexy Rushton is so much better suited to Elf than lovely Dameon... but no need to provoke you [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/>)
Especially when people discuss the destroyer, I find I start to build up a kind of picture in my head about what will happen in the Sending and it stays that way until someone suddenly suggests something that I'd never thought about before.
Like when I was so sure Matthew was the destroyer, but am now slightly swayed into the Daffyd is the destroyer argument by Yvette or the Elf is the destroyer argument by Brydie.
Or hey, what if it's someone we REALLY don't expect.... anyone reckon Maruman is the destroyer? (Or Rushton's pig?)
Since I first arrived here and read some of the theories and old arguments I've been a firm supporter of Min's 'Matthew is the destroyer' theory. But like nearly everyone else when I first read the OC I assumed that Ariel was the destroyer till I stopped to think about it [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>
EVERYTHING ELSPETH SAYS IS WRONG!! lol.

dunno some girl's picture I found on the internet it looks like a painting or very bad pixelization
yeah, i love your sig! it looks great [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>
ok, i just have to say this.
Ariel IS the h'rayka. I'll admit that. and H'rayka means 'one who brings destruction' but that doesn't necessarily make him the destroyer....He could bring some other kind of Destruction- to obernewtyn or the rebels...he's got connections with the herders, and something strange is definately going on there.
It is very cool. We support our beliefs to the deaths her. If rushton died i would be sad yes but it was suggested elswhere that dammo would die!!!what is up with that!? i ask you evil ppl.*glares* [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/angry.gif" alt=">:(" border="0"/>

Ariel has already always brought destruction. He was trusted by Madam Vega and Alexis - Madam Vega was killed and Alexis was um...taken away? He was trusted by the Druid, and the Druid encampment ended up being destroyed. He's associated with the Herders and the Slave trade now, so who knows what's next?
He most certainly brings destruction wherever he goes, but I think he still definately has a bigger part to play - not as Destroyer but he'll have something to do with the quest (99% certain on him leading the Destroyer to their task).
I'm with you all the way, Min.
Am I missing something here?
Everybody keeps refferring to Alexis. He was the evil doctor in Obernewtyn, yes?
But wasn't his name Alexi? Without the S?
No one else seems to call him that and I'm confused. Have I been reading it wrong all these years?
KSL
About Alexis, Alexi.... does he have a different name in different versions of the books? I have the original prints of the first two books, with the original covers, and I think some bits and pieces changed between the different versions. Not sure if that's one.
yeah, parts probably have changed...all my books have him as Alexi, but they're all the same editions. i agree with Min too...i think Ariel definately has a big part to play! though not as the destroyer..
MIne is alexi. so say mathew is the destoyer umm how is ariel going to lead him?
That's really strange...I made a point of looking it up when I did the theories site (the 'kin' section) and in my editions (the ones that I have gotten the maps from on the theories site) it's Alexis. I remember because I'd also been referring to him as Alexi...
I spose it doesn't matter, we all know who we're talking about [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>
Quote:MIne is alexi. so say mathew is the destoyer umm how is ariel going to lead him?
Leading someone can be taken in many ways.
What I think will happen is that Ariel will be in charge of the 'feedings' to the Entina. He'll be in charge of something for once, rather than scavenging around the people in power for the scraps. Matthew will be in danger of being fed to it - which I think means Ariel is using misfits to try deactivate the security surrounding the Entina - hence leading Matthew to his task.
Either that, or Ariel was on the ship when Matthew was taken. If he was in charge of anything there, he was also leading Matthew.
Further back, Ariel always lead the misfits at Obernewtyn. Even if they didn't like it, he would lead them about, tell them what to do, like they were slaves.
I can't see mathew be willingly led by ariel since he haated him so much but your theory could be true i suppose I have to think about it.*thinks, brain explodes from so much use*
Buuut... Ariel is a demented Talent, so he could coerce Matthew, if he was strong enuf.
bUt mathew has a mindshield that elf tuaght him that would be hard to pass plus if ariel was there he would be on his guard. True though.
Ariel doesn't necessarily have to lead Matthew or coerce him. All Ariel does is "brings" destruction.
Matthew hates Ariel so much that simply by spotting him he could do something irrational....
For all we know, Matthew could have all the right intentions but do something terrible simply because of Ariel's presence.
