In reference to the dreamtails the Destroyer hunts Elspeth before Matthew is taken in Ashling. In TKP it is only before Dameon returns from Sador. Finally
the Destroyer only turns up at the end when Elspeth is in Sador with Rushton and Daffyd the only two people not eliminated in regards to 10.

But then again, I always had this weird feeling that Matthew was the Destroyer because of the fact in Obernewtyn Matty was the one with a crippled leg and Elf was the healthy one but in Farseekers, the roles were reversed with Matty being healthy and Elf being lame. This symmetry seemed very important since IC loves playing with symmetry, symbolism and imagery.
The Destroyer is first mentioned as being on the Dreamtails in Ashling (I don't have page numbers but it is before Matthew is taken - Galtha mentions that protecting Elf from the destroyer is getting to Maruman) however after Dameon turns up it is suddenly the H'ryka who causes all the trouble.

For starters, we don't know much about Daffyd's powers. Also, I think the fact that he appears at random times throughout the whole series is a BIG clue. His story interweaves with Elspeth's so perfectly, and each of them are on their own personal quests... which ironically are both leading to the same place (ie the Red Queen's Land)!

When he turned up in Sador - of all places! - I was like AHA! Daffyd here again, for no really obvious or necessary reason. (Some people are suggesting he's the Kasanda blood, but I think he was there because he's the Destroyer! and his story needs to intertwine with Elspeth's all the way through the books).
Dameon on the other hand was calmly travelling down to Sutrium, on Maryon's orders. There's no reason for him - in Ashling - to be urgently, desperately seeking Elspeth.
Not exactly CALMLY - Maryon simply rounded them up and sent them blindly for the sake of Obernewtyn. Elspeth had already been told (In front of ALL of the guildmasters) that if she fails, she would soon die, so having a largish group to follow her (remember they didn't know what was going on until Elspeth told them) could have lead to some concern. That's my two cents worth, anyway.
