ABC Radio Books and Arts Daily programIsobelle Carmody was in high school when she began writing her fantasy novels, The Obernewtyn Chronicles. They're set in a post-apocalyptic world and follow the young Elspeth Gordie, an orphan with special mental abilities, who lives a life of danger and adventure. There have been seven books in the series and Isobelle is now putting the finishing touches to the eighth and final book. It's called The Red Queen and will be out later this year. In the meantime, she's published a new collection of short stories called Metro Winds.
