I always thought of Corrie as a redhead, did I make that up or is it in the book? I think it's in the book...

No, it's mentioned, but not directly - Ellie describes Corrie's mum as looking like Corrie, but with white hair instead of red...
(note to self: check this fact in case I'm imagining/making up things ;P ~:|)
Thanks Helena!
Yeah, I sort of don't remember Corrie having red hair but it doesn't mean it wasn't written...

I always imagined Corrie looking exactly like the actor whos playing her (Rachel Hurd-Wood ) so no supprises there.
But i do not like how Ellie looks more "girly" than Fi. ITS NOT RIGHT, ITS UNNATURAL.. ITS.. ITS... unfair. *bursts in to tears*
An upside is that Chris looks like a rebelious teenager doing the drugs like the party animal that he is.
Lee should be hotter. or at least remotley good looking. or maybe his actor is the only one cool enough to play Lee. 'cause Lee is the coolest, i mean cool with dark sunnies and all. 8)
In conclution to my rant. i predict the movie shall suck.
The books are always better.
My rant has turned me off an obernewtyn movie. *sigh* why do i always do this to myself. ???
Oh well, we figured that the enemy would probably be asian - especially considering the time the book was written and Australia's geographical location.
Can't wait for the teaser trailer - should be good ;D

I think a few pages ago we discussed this, and someone put up a link where someone has gathered all of the evidence from the books and proved it rules out everyone; the Enemy is purely fictional.
But yes, for a visual medium they do have to have some kind of a face, and since there are absolute swarms of them coming out of the woodwork it makes a bit of sense for them to be Asian. But that doesn't mean they're all going to be one stereotype and all look, say, Vietnamese or Chinese. But I think we also saw a link a few pages back from the producers or director or someone saying that they were trying to keep the feel of the Enemy from the books, and definitely not pin it on some nation. I doubt they'd use a well known language for the Enemy's, because the audience is meant to be with Ellie and not be able to understand them.
Dolorosa - you're almost famous by association! :P
Yes, and I think I was even one of the ones to bring it up (shows how vague I am these days...). The thing with the books, as you so rightly point out, cateyes, is that the enemy is generally just a faceless, voiceless, threatening Other. Have you noticed how few times in the books the enemy are actually THERE? Mostly they're just threatening shadows and noises in the background, glimpsed and heard when Ellie and her friends are trying to stay hidden. Even when Ellie and co are in attack mode, the enemy remains distant and anonymous. Marsden is so good at capturing that element of war, I think - the anonymity of the enemy - that it's really jarring whenever one of the enemy DOES appear and is given a chance to speak.
Oops, that went off on a bit of a book-tangent. So, about that movie...
Has anyone heard anything about a teaser trailer? I read somewhere on the internet that there was supposed to be one in January. Anyone know anything...?
BTW, I hope they don't stuff up the movie 'cause I absoultely love the books and it would be a pity if they did turn the movie into some trashy war thing, M rated please!!!.
'll be interested to know how they do the scene at the music teachers house in book two of the series.
WOO & as for the trailer it was pushed into being released sometime this month . . . but I guess we'll just wait and see.
omg thanks for the link!!!! :D
I'm still not sure about ellie (too reminded of neighbours), but i'm not giving up hope yet!
*rushes around in excitement*
Looks like it has a lot of lame kinda lines :P

I am strangely relieved that it doesn't look too cringe-worthy! I guess I was really worried about all the soapie stars in it...And I can't believe its out in September - that was filmed so quick!!
CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT! COME ON SEPTEMBER 2! THE TRAILER LOOKS AWESOME!
It doesn't actually look that bad, I'll wait until I've seen the movie to make up my mind.
lol the actors look a little older than i imagined the characters be..i haven't read it in a while so I've forgotten how old ellie and everyone is in the 1st book..
