YAY Lauren!!!
Yeap, it's definitely confirmed for a second series! Huzzuh!
Ooh! I hadn't noticed the Bad Wolf grafiti!
Maybe Rose left 'Bad Wolf' in more places than were apparent in the original series. Or it could've been a clue the to Doc picking Jack up at the end...

They love doing nods to other episodes in both Torchwood and Doctor Who. When they replace street signs in Doctor Who when they're turning Cardiff into London they seem to get a kick out of using streets and names from the Whoniverse. Rose left those messages for herself everywhere I've been surprised that we haven't come across any more. I think it's just cute having it there. Just another thing to say "look! look! we really are apart of the whoniverse!"
plus, it's also a nice way to remind people of the Doctor right before he arrives. I know, how could you forget the Doctor? But when he hasn't been there a whole season, you need to jog the memory of those who aren't obsessive geeks. Just gently get into people's minds by suggesting "hey, remember the Doctor? He's kinda important..." That's why Jack does say very very close to the end "the right kind of Doctor" because those who aren't as attentive score a nice click of "ooohhhhh, yeah, That guy, the other cute one with the glasses..."
So yeah, I don't think it was anything. Just something to make the prop guys giggle. You guys did notice that in Billie's last episode they mentioned Bad Wolf and the Daleck link... they finally explain the damn thing...

Got a bit of extra fodder for you all :D *Double posting monster growls* No, not for you.
A new book to be released in the Torchwood line is all about Torchwood 4. How alien influence seems to have worked its way into the politics of Britain, through the candidate Saxon. Now, it's told from the point of view of a reporter who stumbles upon this information, and ends up getting tangled up with Torchwood 4 and its eventual disappearance.
Now, why this struck up my interest was in the name Saxon. Normally I brush past the books and don't pay much attention, but it wasn't until I was watching Love and Monsters that it was made clear to me through the commentries that the newspaper the Absorbalof was reading was very important and RTD insisted that it be in there.
The headline on the paper was "Saxon elected into Office" or something along those lines. This is apparently going to be key to Doctor Who season 3.
Also, bits and pieces on the Torchwood Hub website hint at Torchwood 4 having fallen into the future. Or at least fallen out of time.
So a Torchwood and Doctor Who link?
And seriously, what has the icecream got to do with it?
Yeap, I've heard Saxon's the word for Season 3 DW, too. Saxon linked somehow to Torchwood 4 then... :D ooh, how exciting!! I wonder if Harriet Jones will make a return :D if this Saxon's to do with British parliament?
Maybe Elton starts an icecream parlor? :P
Speaking of Torchwood books, I bought Slow Decay on Friday night, finished it this afternoon - they're a bit silly really :P but very easy reads. I think I ended up with all the DW (9th & 10th) novels too, when I was in ABC shop moping around wanting something DW-ish while the series isn't on :*)
What's the Torchwood 4 book going to be called Flit?

Yeah, i've been hearing Saxon is the word for the moment. RTD loves his little linking words. It's the detail that makes me love Dr Who and Torchwood even more.
And urgh, i wish i had the name of the book. You know when you pick things up and read them then store some of the information? And you don't remember everything else, or where the hell you got the damn information from?
I don't think it had a title yet, it was a preview book that one of the friends I chat with occaisionally on the boards got a sneak peak in. Only i can't remember which one it was :S I'll have another hunt because this is one book i'll want to pick up, i think.
I've been tempted to read the books, I have read most of the star wars ones, so i can't fault you :P Everyone i talk to says the best Torchwood book is Another Life and i'm tempted to pick it up :P And i've been looking at getting the DW books with Jack in them.... not that i'm obsessed or anything...
ooh! I hadn't seen this Saxon bit.
Check out what i posted on the Doctor Who thread. It should hopefuly explain some of this
*grugs* you have my sympathies!
If you can't get the DVD's in Aus, just buy them from Amazon UK. Remember Region 2 discs will play in Region 4 players, and vice-versa.
I'm suprised that they're not going to show it. Maybe if you all got a petition going they might reconsider?

I doubt it. The ABC has lost my faith since they canceled the Glass House for what's probably more political reasons than anything else...
I'm surprised SBS didn't go for it though. They played - and got high ratings for (well, high considering they're SBS :P) for RTD's Queer as Folk years ago. You'd think they'd be eager to get into the Whoniverse...*shrugs*
I'll definitely be buying them though! I'll ask at JB Hi Fi this week.
Tis a shame though. Maybe they might reconsider in the future. Who knows...
Hope you find the DVD's. BBC Worldwide tend to sell most of their UK releases worldwide, so you shouldn't have too much trouble

Ooookay...I'm reading another Torchwood book at the moment...and there's a character, who's in the team, who's name is James Mayer. From the sounds of the book, he's been there for a fair while.
I'd thought when I started reading "Border Princes", and James was introduced as always being there, that the book was the most fan-ficcy published TW novel ever, since the author had obviously just inserted himself into the team :P and I haven't finished the book yet, so it might all be revealed by the end...but maybe this'll be a new character for the next season and the book's set during S2??
Edit: *finished book*
*sigh*...so much for that theory!
Well, it could've worked like that Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode where Dawn was suddenly insterted into Buffy's life and her history was suddenly re-written to make her feel that Dawn had always been there
Maybe that's where the author got the idea from...spoilers about the book Border Princes below, if you're unlikely to read it...
James, in the end, ends up being an alien! From another planet's guarding-the-rift institution, who send their members out to study how other planets mind the rift...they have major technology, but for some reason, James' mental tech gets broken (that's supposed to remind him of who he is), so he believes he's really from earth, from Torchwood, doesn't understand why these people are tracking him...and once the other Torchwood team members get far enough away from him (eg, Gwen goes to Manchester one day) - they just forget about him.
I still reckon it was the author's way of writing himself into the book :P - James was well written, but he was kinda Mary Sueish (or whatever the male equivalent is) in a way. Maybe it was intentional.
Well, its nice to know that i turn out to be an Alien... ;)
OMG!! Thanks Galli!!!
I would never have expected Ten to pick it up!! They're so...well, I know they're trying to take the 'sexy' or whatever marketing approach to tv, but...wow. I guess, it's really quite like the X-files, which ten also owned, if memory serves...
Damn to the commercials, though...
And yeah...the ratings might be a bummer, they'll probably end up showing it at 11:35 on a Thursday night or something :P or maybe, try to do the sneaky thing and put it up against the ABC's timeslot of Doctor Who :-/ I can't wait to see what audience they try to sell it to...or if they even mention Doctor Who.
See, I told you someone would pick up the series ;)
Sooo...anyone in Oz getting excited by the recent channel 10 ads...? June 18th..? 9:30pm..? The Man Who Cannot Die?
*crickets chirp*
I've already watched the series and I'm excited by it coming on actual TV...will be watching it all over again, waving my "TEH HAND!" flag :D
lol, glad they're finally getting round to showing it over there
