I know a lot of her newer books are out, but I'm talking about SOTL and The Immortals in particular. They are really old, I remember reading them back in 1998 when I was still in high school! I was thinking that perhaps due to their age, they might be out of print?
I might try Angus and Robertson on Thursday night... Just trying to think where the closest Dymocks is now!
I am ashamed to admit I never finished reading POTS quartet |:( I am positive I have all the books for that series! And I have Terrier and Trickster's Choice... but have read neither of them!
I do much prefer the Tortal series though. The Circle books never really interested me (probably the lack of romance and lack of Numair and Jonathan put me off ;P)

Dymocks is good but I have found that Angus and Robertson are the best when ordering books as they get them in nice and fast. I have also found that their prices are quite cheap :)

Jossie, all of TP's book were reprinted around the same time last year. I have a number of them including Song of the Lioness, Immortals, Circle opens and circle closes. I think they did a total reprint because she has become very popular again lately.

I only ordered in SotL recently at the prices I mentioned, so they're definately still available.
All of her books are definitely in print :) As i said in the other thread, I ordered in six of her books from various of series end of last week, and am expecting them most likely early next.
A&R I've found are the bookstore who consistently has at least a sample of her books in store. Generally, you're looking at min $15, max $20 for each of her books.
Have you tried second hand bookstores? Though I haven't seen many of her books in them, as they do get picked up fast :P
If all else fails and you can't get them, I'd be willing to lend my copies to you :)
I went to Borders first and the listing said $12, while when I went to Angus and Robertson they were about $18? So I decided cheaper is better, but it ended up being that Borders was the same price. They said 2-5 weeks, and I guess I'm not in THAT much of a hurry. It's just been ages since I read them! And they've got these new covers... dunno if I'm all impressed by them though ;P
Thanks Lioness for offering to lend them to me. It's all good though, because they should be coming soon!
Next ones I will certainly order will be the Immortals quartet! And I saw 2nd book Bloodhound, which I'll have to buy eventually - even though I've got Terrier, I still have yet to read it!
I'm so slack :P
Thanks guys! You're awesome!

I don't really like the new covers either Jossie. They do seem more modern, but I liked the good old days when all TP books have a black spine. And The Immortals were green.
Got a letter from Borders! My special order of the SOTL quartet has arrived!! YAY!
Oooh yay Jossie, that's wonderful :D
So I am going to try and revive this thread because I have like all of TP's books. However, I bought the Bloodhound book when it came out earlier this year and read it straight away but I must say that I was quite disappointed with it...
Has anyone else read it? If so, what did you think of it?
I personally hope that TP isn't losing her touch...
Yep I've read it - I now am pleased to say I own all her series that she's released ;D
I have to agree... I wouldn't say I was disappointed, as I wasn't really expecting it to be crash hot, though couldn't put it down at least :)
I must say, I prefer the older novels more than the newer ones. SotL is and always will be my all-time favourite series.
I hope she isn't losing her touch :-/ unfortunately, everyone's writing style changes over the years; sometimes good, sometimes bad. Can only hope that it's just a phase...
Hmm...here is hoping she will produce something I love some time soon! I have to agree with you Lioness - I loved the SotL series and the Wild Magic Series the most...and they are like the first one she wrote.
I actually did enjoy the Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen ones which were released not too long ago though so it is not like it is a perfect downwards projectory! hehe.
I actually kinda got into the first Beka Cooper one when it came out because I really liked the love interest with Rosto and I thought that at the end of the book when he became the new Rogue that it was going to be really interesting to see how things developed between the two of them in the next book...I think that is why I was so disappointed - she just up and left to an entirely new city and that all got put on hold for that other guy...whatever his name is....
Maybe disappointed is a strong word after all...I couldn't put it down either ::) ...but it did still annoy me...

I have read all of Tammy's books so many times I can nearly recite them ~:|
I must say, the book I am most disappointed with out of all her new books is Melting Stones. It wasn't her best to say the least. And I was the same with Bloodhound, but I still couldn't put it down. But I do still like the first Beka Cooper book better :)
Oh yeah! I was completely going to mention that but I couldn't remember the title! I actuallly read Melting Stones pretty much straight away after I read Bloodhound - two books which are definately not TP at her best... I think both of them combined got me worried that I was just not liking the direction that TP is starting to going in....

I liked Terrier more than Bloodhound too. Melting Stones wasn't magnificant, but I think maybe it's because Evvy is a relatively new character and we don't love her as much as Briar, Sandry, Tris and Daja... mainly Briar :P
I agree with Lioness - one of the issues of reading a writer who's been working for a long time is that their style inevitably changes. Sometimes that can be a great thing, as their work matures and improves; other times it can be disappointing, and leave you nervous every time you approach one of their new releases. Especially if they're still using characters or a world you adore and don't want to have ruined for you! It's one reason I often prefer an author to leave a favourite series or world alone while I'm still wanting more.
That said, I'm not too worried about TP's work. Although I don't think it's as brilliant as it used to be, it's still enjoyable in a different way. I agree that the Beka Cooper books are a bit of a paradox - unputdownable, yet somehow not as good as her earlier work.
I haven't read Melting Stones, but wasn't it initially an audiobook? Maybe one of the reasons it's not as effective as her other novels is that she wrote it in that different format, so it wasn't approached with her usual style? That could acocunt for the issues with Beka Cooper, too. As a first-person diary, a crime/mystery series, and a story set 200 years in Tortall's past, it's very different from anything else TP's written before, so maybe she's just experimenting with a new style and falling short...whatever the case, I still like her work and I'm still looking forward to Elk. ^_^

Yeah I agree. I think most authors grow and change just like regualr folk. IC's writing has changed a lot over the OC series and her other books, some are good, some not so good. I think that TP in changing to first person perspective shook it up a bit. And its not like she could suddenly change back to her old way after the series has already been started.
The next circle book is suposed to be about Tris so that will be an indication on how much her style has changed.
Yeah - it is not really the first person perspective that bothered me though - after all, I still enjoyed Terrier but Bloodhound was a disappointment.
I think that it may be less a case of her writing style changing (because it is definately more sophisticated now), and more a case of her always going back to the same universe - I do love Tortall, but maybe she has used up all her best ideas as far as interesting characters are concerned?!?! I think the personality of her characters is what draws me back to her first books above all...the later books just don't quite have the same appeal - especially Evvy like you said Kaede.
I bought the majority of the books from a scholastic shop for like $5-10 each but they didn't have the 3rd and 4th ones and they take up the bottom half of my sadly too small bookshelf as there is two layers of books on each shelf

Isn't she supposed to be putting out a series about Numair sometime soon? I think I fell in love with him in the first book he was in. Tall, Dark and Brooding.

I love him too! A series about him would be great! I just reread First Test (PotS), and when Numair made his (admittedly very small) appearance, I cheered and said "Woo Numair!" and earned a rather strange look from my Dad. He just doesn't understand... :P
Anyway, this post is rather pointless and offers no new information about upcoming TP books. Sorry Deb!

I reread Page today (second book in PotS). I say reread because I know I read it in primary school, but I had absolutely no memory of the plot when I started, and nothing jogged my memory throughout. I guess that's a rather strong indicator that it's time for a reread! Anyway, I did enjoy it, though I thought it seemed a bit squashed. Three of four years passing in just two hundred and fifty pages makes things seem vague. I really liked Lalasa's character though, and her name! And I hope that whoever hired those men to kidnap her is soon revealed in Squire!
