Ooh I remember this now. YAY. Plenty of people Brenna can hug.
EDIT: I don't have romantic characters, Darga. :P I'm not lying.

I refer back to assorted snippets: Alex and Xylia; two other people whose names I don't remember; Robert and assorted conquests; Hayden and Elaine; etc
Edit: Sorry, Vestie. Hijacking your thread to argue with Shonk; don't mind us :P
If Vestie (and the whole of Prodders for that matter) aren't used to us arguing there is something wrong :P
And back to the matter at hand, none of those 'relationships' could ever be deemed romantic :P
Just have to jump in and agree with Shonk in this case; except in the instance of Hayden and Elaine, all those other hugs (especially Xylia and Alex) are just friendlly, and usually one of them doesn't even want to be in the hug, so.... no romance there.
Also, Vestie: more words!! I expect another 1,000 before I get back from work, and 'I was sleeping' is not a good excuse :P
Okay, so no new words just yet, but I've spent the day planning and I actually know where I'm going (kinda :P ). I might have some words late tomorrow? I just need a little bit more time to think about it all, but then, I should be ready to go :D
Late tomorrow. We'll take that as a definite :P

Words now? :D
Alright. I've completely changed everythijg from what it was going to be when I first came up with the idea ages ago, but I think it's okay now. The first bit I posted won't make sense now, so I'll post the end of it (the revised version) so you get an idea. Prepare your brains for crap :P

I slumped down on the floor next to Tom, who was cleaning his dagger. We had had a good hunt that day. Kyan sat in the corner, staring out the filthy window. I threw a shoe at him and it flew into his shoulder. Slowly, he turned to glare at me. I hid behind one of Tom’s broad shoulders.
“Please don’t hurt me,†I squeaked. Kyan ignored me.
“What’s wrong?†Matt nudged him between the shoulder blades. Kyan sighed and turned to face us.
“The falcons were so restless this morning,†he murmured. Matt and I exchanged glances. I had noticed it, too. Even though they hadn’t signalled the presence of danger, they had been fidgety all throughout the patrol.
“Maybe they were just reacting to a storm that’s coming in or something,†Tom said, looking up from his dagger. “Anyway, you and Brenna said they didn’t detect anything.â€
“You don’t know the birds, Tom. They just weren’t themselves today,†I said quietly. While we were all members of the Falconer Guild, only Kyan and I handled the birds.
“But they didn’t find any threats, so it’s fine, right?†Matt asked from his bed. Kyan and I glanced at each other before I shrugged. What was the point in trying to explain the behaviour of our falcons if they wouldn’t understand?
“Can you tell if he’s circling?†Kyan nudged me shoulder and pointed towards one of the birds on that hovered over the forest. I squinted against the early morning sun before shaking my head.
“It’s only decreasing its height.â€
The falcons were even more agitated they had been the day before and all the falconers were tense. One of the men suddenly began to shout. Kyan stepped to the side to see past me and a moment later, he was pushing roughly past my shoulder. I turned slowly and turned my head up to the gold streaked sky. The silhouette of a falcon circled over and group of trees, signalling an approaching group.
“Let’s go,†murmured the man who had first spotted the bird.
Frost still covered the grass and it crunched under our boots as we trekked through the thick forest. It had been a few months since our falcons had detected oncoming danger. Every few steps, we searched the sky that was just visible through the branches for the bird that had been circling. After a while of walking, we could hear footsteps and exhausted conversation.
“Show yourselves,†Kyan said loudly, scanning the trees that surrounded us for any movement. My hand inched toward the knife in my belt.
“We bring a message from the King of Asteria,†a voice said from inside the body of trees. A few of the falconers glance at each other before shepherding towards a clump of trees. Representatives of the King wouldn’t be pleased to discover that the Falconer Guild of Torania had employed a girl.
“What would this message be about?†a falconer asked, gruffly. A group of men in palace uniform stepped out from the shadows.
“The royal couple, King Willam and Queen Thana, are planning to tour across the kingdom, visiting all the towns over the next few weeks. You are to prepare the settlement of Torania for their arrival,†one man said. I saw the falconers muttering through the branches of the trees that concealed me. Queen Thana had originally lived in Torania until the palace had stolen the girl and the King had married her.
“The King and his Queen will arrive in two weeks from tomorrow. I trust you will inform your town.†The man turned and began leading his horse back through the trees in the direction they had come from and the rest of the palace messengers followed. Once the sound of crunching leaves and twigs had died, I stepped out from my concealment.
“What would the King have to say to us?â€

Oh, very mysterious! A stolen queen; kings coming for a chat. Keep it coming!
One thing - is this the story you want to submit to your writing competition? If so, maybe best if the majority of your snippets go into Prodders?
That's what I was thinking today. The next few will be in Prodders (when I get around to writing them that it :P )
Hmm, so how exactly is it different now, Vestie?
Well, considering the girl is now Queen and is parading about the country with her husband, I wonder how much it bothers her that she was initially kidnapped, whether she's got herself some Stockholm syndrome or what. [act]scractches beard[/act]
Alright. I HAVE WRITTEN! 700 words so far and I plan to get a few hundred more done before I sleep. All of these are very crap words, but at least they exist :P I may or may not post it in Prodders, so it may or may not be found there.
WILL BE FOUND THERE! [act]waves cattle prod[/act]
Okay, so over the past 8 days, I have worked up a grand total of [act]drumroll[/act] 1582 words... hmmm... not a good start, Vestie. Not a good start...
That's OK. It's a start. There are always weeks that are better for writing than others!
I've survived another 500 words and a mug of unsweetened black tea. Remind me nover to do the latter ever again :P I'll post what I've written in Prodders :D
Nothing wrong with unsweetened black tea :P

I'm finally getting back into writing after my week and I've written about 500 more words this afternoon and I plan to get more done tonight. Again, this'll be in Prodders.
Edit: I've got another 700 words done :D Yay! These are in Prodders too.
Well done, Vestie! You're making excellent progress :).
ooh, what does that make your overall for this OberSu?
4097 words :D Only 15903 to go :P
That's excellent progress, Vestie - we're only a couple of weeks in, after all!
Okay, so I haven't written anything since the last time I wrote :P But I do lan to do some today! 700 words by mid-night! Hopefully more, but I've kind of dug myself into a hole in my story, so I need soem time to fix it :P My characters are doing stupid stuff like going missing and I don't know why!
Bad characters! Take your cattle prod to them.
