Haha, thanks. It's been really amazing, especially meeting and hanging put with the other novella winners. Okay, so two of them are 17 and the other is 15 but we all get along well despite the age difference. Some of the major authors here are Jackie French, Andy Griffiths, Terry Denton, Leah Giarratano, Kari Gislason, Anna Fienberg, Belinda Murrell and others that I can't thing of right now. Yesterday I went to an amazing workshop looking into the minds of true psychopaths, their motives and emotions. It was AMAZING!!!! Today we find out the national winner and we get to run our own author session where all the novella winners will read from their novella and answer questions etc. This'll be scary but I'm also super excited!
Sounds amazing Vestie! How you're enjoying it!
Good luck with your reading, you'll be great!
Ha ha - a session about psychopaths! That's awesome.
And you'll be brilliant in your reading. I have no doubt.
Keep having fun - you deserve it!
sounds amazing Vestie! I'm glad you're enjoying it!!
Heh heh heh. Had the reading today, and while it was good hearing the other's (who's are all amazing!!) but the audience only really engaged with the WA winner, leave the other three of us to be awkward and antisocial :P Loads of people went to talk to him after and the only person to talk to me was a guy asking if the Herbs represented drugs and their destructive effect on society :P 'Twas slightly awkward.
On a more positive note, all state winners have been given the opportunity to be mentored by Penguin editors :D Which will be absolutely amazing.
Pfft, what was so good about this WA kid? [act]competetive nature engaged[/act]
But that is really awesome news, Vestie. :D PENGUIN [act]flails[/act]
Penguin??!??! OMG!!! [act]flails[/act] That is amazing!!! Well done, Vestie. And yes, pfft. WA kid hasn't got death Roses and Saiges :nods:.
WA kid is also a stand up comedian and the rest if us are socially awkward teenagers. Distinct advantage to WA kid. He has become Mr Popular while the rest if us are generally hated ;D
But I'm very excited about the whole Penguin thing and I got to speak with one of IC's editors!!!! One of IC's editors read my work XD
OML! That's amazing Vestie! That is so cool!!!!!!!
That WA kid has nothing on you!
Unfrotunately in today's market, being able to present and sell yourself is very important--but pfft at WA kid anyway. [act]waves hand[/act]
But ooh, IC editors too! that is extra good because they would be fantasy editors and you write fantasy! They'll be able to give you the best advice. :nods:
That sounds really exciting Vestie! How long will you be mentored for with the Penguin editor? Sounds like you're having an amazing time there!

Omg, Vestie, congratulations! Little late on the uptake, but I'm so happy for you! Good luck at the festival, that's such an amazing achievement. Have a ton of fun, too, you deserve it :D
AH, thank you. The Queenslander won but it was kinda funny because she's currently on a gap year in England and couldn't be there anyway :P
