I'll probably be posting poetry here... and not very often, because mostly I write narrative. But sometimes I come over all whimsical and tragic heroine-ish and that's when I write these poems about love, and loss, and life. Here's a free form one that I wrote the other day, very spur of the moment.
Late Night Thoughts
my heart is beginning to feel again
like I took it out for a moment
just to make sure that it was safe
but something pretty caught my eye
and the shields didn’t go back down
there is a boy
and there is a man
and one of them could be what I
need right now
and one of them could be what I
need
want
must have
will have
for the rest of my life
my heart is beginning to feel again
I don’t want it to crumple
and fail
Very nice. Hopefully we can read more of your poetry. :)
It's beautiful, Alyse! I love the one-word sentences. Very effective.
:D very nice.
I like the imagery of taking it out to keep it safe and I love "need, want, must have" It's almost primitive in a beautiful way :)
