So, I started strongly, but after day one the excuses came out to play. Househunting, Anne of Green Gables being on TV (even though I have the DVD), packing, cleaning the oven.
This tread will chronicle the many and varied reasons why I did not write today.
Today's excuses: I feel sick. I had a fever last night - which felt a bit like a cold (I go all winter without one, then catch it now?), and today I just feel yukky. So I'm babying myself. And tonight I'm going to IKEA.

:( Feel better soon Nef! Maybe IKEA will inspire you. Their instructions always call for the highest level of creativity :P
Hope you get well soon, Nef! I suppose you've the rest of the summer to start. :D I'm with Kaede on the IKEA inspiration - maybe a contemplation on the workings of that small key will get the creativity going! :P
Hmmm - I am depressingly good at putting together IKEA furniture (what does that say about me?) - and I can't even put together what I want to buy - it's a christmas present to my flatmate and it will be better if I leave it in its box until we move.
The daim tart might make me feel better though ... it usually does - as do the swedish meatballs ...
Swedish meatballs *sigh* there are things that I miss out on being vegetarian. Good luck starting Nef, I love IKEA, I think it's my happy place maybe it will make you happy too and you will feel the need to write :)
And my excuse is gone - IKEA was SHUT for their christmas party!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Noooo! You should totally write them a letter of complaint.
I know at least one person who is complaining - she was livid!
Today's excuse - still feeling sick, and I'm having dinner with my siblings ... I can keep coming up with these for years!
Today's excuse: a christmas tree ate my fingers.
I was sitting at work innocently, when the team a cubicle over from me let loose a wild christmas tree. It is part of the level 12 christmas war over who has the best decorations.
Anyway, the tree got loose, jumped the barricade and went for my christmas lights, which were behind me. Unfortunately for me, my fingers were covered in glitter from handling the decorations, so whien I tried to fend off the savage tree, it bit my fingers off.
I'm typing this with my nose, as it will take the rest of the day for my fingers to grow back.
Tomorrow, I'm bringing out my morningstar christmas lights. No quarter ...
Today I am stuck in a tinsel blizzard.
My workplace is suffering the effects of the Christmas war. the office is a blttleground of trip wires and dazzling lights.
Having escaped the Twilight themed christmas nightmare outside the office kitchen, I was tripped by a stray christmas light and went sprawling into tinsel drift. I hit my head on a plastic Santa and must have passed out. When I woke, fairy lights twinkled before my eyes and plastic snowflakes hung from the sky ... I decided that I must be concussed and will sit out the rest of the day ...
Yesterday, I was passed a sleepless night when my hibernating bear of a sister came to stay. Her irregular snoring had been forgotten by all other inmates of my house until she went to bed early. My sister had a solid night's sleep. The rest of us were cranky and snarky all day yesterday.
Poor Nef!!! That hardly sounds like an environment conducive to writing productivity. I hope you get a break from the insanity soon and I hope you're fingers are okay :/
Today, my writing efforts have been stymied by a range ofthings including chocolate tarts, christmas puddings and online shopping. The former I have to make and the latter I've indulged in in a fit of celebration over the fact that I don't have to move anymore! Buying clothes, books and a swimsuit seemed the only thing to do ...
Happy shopping, Nef! I think the Christmas spirit can be an excuse for anything this time of the year :P There's still plenty of time to write, and I hope your fingers feel better after the attack of the Christmas tree. :)
Christmas cooking has taken over - I have four types of jam, mini christmas puddings, boiled lollies, macaron tart, cherry ripe balls, chocolate mousse, and ... I can't remember what else. I've spent all day at the stove, my fingers are burnt by the boiled lollies, and I still have to go to the shops to buy more ingredients ... sigh.

At lease this thread is interesting and informative.
Would you like to come and do my cooking now? :P
:O no - my fingers are burnt and I don't want to see food again for another year!
WOOT! I'm writing!!! I would say I am at about 5000 words! Hooray!
I'm trying to write 1000 words every day. So far this year, so good.

Hooray Nef! [act]waves a flag[/act] Well done!
Well, I spoke too soon - that noble effort didn't last too long. The rains came, the heat refused to go, and I have been stuck sleepless in their tense stand-off. I'm so tired I can barely walk in a straight line, let alon write a sentence ...
Hope you have gotten some sleep by now Nef, though I know the feeling.
