Bwhaha - I think it's fairly obvious with all these topics that the percentage that he IS actually these things are more than likely to fall on the highly unlikely side :P
I know we are still throwing around ideas (all very good ones I must say ;D) but I was wondering how we could structure it?
- How are you going to achieve your goal, it's not like you can use trial and error. It would take YEARS and HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of test subjects in order to work out the precise changes you need to make, and there are lots of them because Elspeth sees his mind as really really warped.
I think that is a good starting point. Or at least :P a good point :)
As for 'not to muddle the waters' - yes, I think we should just leave it clear cut Maruman=100% robotic. I mean, I do like the idea of bio/robo as it explains how Elf is able to communicate somewhat with him - but we could always inject if need be that she has a bit of teknoguilding Talent or something in her. Or perhaps more, his mind is programmed in with hers in a way. You know, with electricity/circuits - attuned?
::) sorry if that doesn't make sense.
Merimyn=Maruman - perhaps Merimyn was a robot as well. I think that'd be easiest to justify rather than having to 'extract his memories and place it on a circuit board... although :P going with this point about the brain running on currents - perhaps Beforetimers had developed a way to download biological data onto computers.
Of course, this poses the question - why Merimyn specifically? Was it the contact he had, his breeding?
...
I think perhaps we should start with defining
how we see the topic: which is
"Maruman is 100% robotic, circuitry, wires the whole she-bang :P'
Then perhaps
why this was practical,
which drawns upon our ideas of suitability, able to sustain tests of time etc.
and explain that we believe Beforetimers would have the ability to create this sort of tek
Then maybe finally what evidence we have in the books to support this theory,
which would lead to the ideas of Maruman having no fur, his eye, his moon/virus interference/static
Does that sound okay? If not that's okay too :P I just thought it'd be practical to isolate some ideas/paragraphs we could start to expand upon.
I love theory challenges :D
