Have you ever taken part in the Dreamweaver storyboard during moonfair? If you have it’s exactly like that.
If you haven’t, it’s quite simple really. The idea is to work collaboratively with your fellow Obernetters to create a story. You’ll find many different types of stories here.
Games:
In the games threads you’ll be given instructions on exactly what the game is about. An example could be the old classic word story. These games are generally a bit of silliness where everyone can have a bit of fun.
Stories with Shorter instalments:
These are stories where the general idea is to post a paragraph or two at a time. They’re a great way of exercising the writing muscles without having to be too involved. These stories can contain a lot of silliness, or be quite serious and it is a good idea to have a look at what the author seems to be aiming for and follow along with that.
Stories with Longer instalments:
These will be stories where the average amount to post is a few paragraphs. As a general rule these stories will be more serious and this should be respected when replying to them. I’m not saying don’t have fun and not even don’t put fun in your stories. This simply means that an excess of pure silliness is unlikely to be appreciated. We already have a several games as well as the frequent Obernet RPGs for that. This is a place for people to exercise their writing skills in a more thought out fashion as we have many, many excellent as well as budding writers at Obernet.
What are the Stories About?
Anything and everything is welcome here (so long as it’s PG rated of course :P ). While many of us are obviously fantasy fans here at Obernet, other genres are just as welcome and encouraged.
Some of the stories may be open with no guidelines where anything can happen. Some authors may also choose to stipulate a certain genre when beginning a story eg they may notice that we have 5 fantasy stories going and no crime, something they personally like, they may begin a story stipulating that it is to be a crime story based on Earth. Please respect this. Throwing a dragon into their serious down to Earth story is unlikely to be welcome.
It sounds like heaps of fun!!
