Okay- this is my first attempt I hope it makes sense! I also refrained from reading the other entires this time :P
How and why are the female clothes found in Ariel’s house on Norseland in TSK actually belong to Ariel?
When Ariel was growing up at Obernewtyn, he was forced to live in horrible, dingy clothes like all the other misfits. He always saw himself as beautiful though, and this led to his yearning for beautiful possessions, which he felt he deserved. Alexi would not allow Ariel to posses such things, so when Ariel escaped and started making connections when we was older, he started collecting beautiful clothes and other possessions. He also showered the Druid’s camp with such adornments, as Elspeth found out when she was captured by them.
When Ariel was at the Druid’s camp, he and Erin formed some sort of a bond. He admired her beauty and femininity, which led him to start wearing female clothes himself- for he felt he was more beautiful than Erin. He also grew his hair long, in an attempt to appear more feminine, and he may have even picked up make-up tips from Erin while he was there.
So, when Elspeth and the others found the beautiful women’s clothing at Ariel’s residence, they actually had stumbled across his secret passion- wearing exquisite women’s clothing.
What does Ariel do with them, and how does it affect him mentally? And what does this do to the Salamander theories?
Expanding on my first answer, Ariel prefers to wear women’s clothing in private. However, when he met Salamander, (who, for the sake of this theory, is Saresh)
he found she also, loved beautiful clothing and adornments, and the two formed an instant connection- both had been deprived of such items growing up. Ariel discovered the power he could have by befriending Saresh/Salamander- so he started providing her with exquisite clothing as well, forming a strong ally.
Ariel soon found a use for his clothing- as we learnt, in the earlier days of Salamander; there was a beautiful woman who would speak on his behalf. That woman in fact was Ariel, dressed up and pretending to be a woman, possibly with a bit of coercion help.
He soon stopped this behaviour, as he once almost was caught out as a man, and was forced to resume his secret cross-dressing habits with Saresh in private at Norseland.
Ariel soon became confused of his sexuality, and this is what turned his Empath powers into a sort of antipathy- because his emotions deep inside were confused and torturing him, this led his empathy to backfire, and enable him to terrorise other people easily.
I hope that makes sense- it was abit rushed hehe :)
how to decide? I have to find the time to read these again!!
Ok, after sneaking a read when I ought to be working, and then agonising when I ought to have been proofreading an article on the administrative appeals tribunal (riveting stuff, i assure you), I decided to go with Redqueen's entry (although I really liked the other two entries)
You're up redqueen!
oh wow, thanks nef! ;P
Ok my theory challenge.. I guess this one might be a little difficult and out-there (and it's based on a lot of wishful thinking on my part) but here goes ~
Explain how Dragon's mother, the Red Queen, did not actually die when she was betrayed and attacked. Where is she now and (optional) what might be her role in the forthcoming plot of the Oberchrons?

Dragon's Mother took refuge in the dreamsea, and used 'seliga' hold herself in the future time in a non-corporeal form.(sort-of-spirit)
She possessed the guardian, whatever it is, animal or human, as she is a beastspeaker and a teknoguilder, and protects the entrance to the weaponmachines from ariel, salamander and the gatekeeper, waiting for elspeth to enter, and thus the destroyer is someone trusted by elspeth, or ariel can only enter past the redqueen and the entina with elspeth. (hostages and the like)

So this new challenge by RedQueen closes 16th May 2008 :D

I spent half an hour writing a longer version of this and after trying a few time, unsuccessfully, to reply, it disappeared. So here I go agian:
When the red queen was attacked and sent dragon off, she also had to go to do something else that she was going to do not so soon. A dolphin took her to the shore near Sador and Obernewtyn, feeding her some of its energy ( like to Elspeth but more) to heal her a bit along the way. The Agyllians took her to Ken Agyllian Eyrie to heal her completely then to where ever it was that Jacob Obernewtyn was going. Jacob was told by Cassy and Hannah of a computermachine there. the Red queen has to be there because Elspeth will go there on her quest and the computer requires two people for its password/unlocking system. Cassy knew so left a clue that will allow the two of them to unlock it to use it to access other computermachines including Sentinel

(Bear in mind that my knowledge of the books has little gaps in it atm because of all the English books I have read since :()
My theory is that after the Red Queen was attacked, she was captured and taken to Salamander. He would have been semi-yound then, and would have needed to know more about the Red Queen's land if he wished to turn it into a slave land. The Red Queen would have been questioned and would have refused to answer so that Salamander would give up on her. As she was being held on her own property, she would have known all sorts of secret exits and be able to escape from Salamanders grasp. I think the best chance she would have had to survive would be to pretend to be on Salamander's side. It would be unlikely that she'd want to leave her home, and a simple cloth could be used to cover her hair. Salamander can't possibly know all the people who work for him so she could sneak around, gain allies and try to get her land back. She could possibly be the one who will help Matthew and the other slaves get to safety, or lead her daughter straight to them.
Another thought: What if Ariel has her? The Red Queen could still be linked to her Daughter somehow and we know she's a misfit too. The room in Ariel's house with all the female things could have been hers and because Ariel's so powerful he could control her easily. In the books it doesn't sound like the Red Queen is very materialistic but the possibility is there. It could explain why Ariel's always a step ahead of Elspeth and the others. (I realise that the presence of female clothing has already been discussed but oh well).

*apologises in advance for the massive crazy leap brain took when thinking about this question* |:|
The Red Queen, when betrayed fell into the sea. The sea and its strange dream power enhancing powers allowed her to take her whole self onto the dreamtrails. On the Dreamtrails the Red Queen became lost and actually left the dreamtrails in an alternative version of reality. in this version of reality the Red Queen ended up in a land called in a land called Tortall. She meets a handsome book obsessed young man called Alan of Trebond. They fall in love and they have two children but the Red Queen's grief over leaving her first daughter in danger leads her to once again move onto the Dreamtrails and 'die' in the land of Tortall. She returns to the Land of the Red Queen just as the boat arrives from The Land and rushes to help Elspeth and her daughter Dragon recover her country. They rule together happily and show Elspeth the last sign. Elspeth carries on her quest, at one crucial moment she is in danger of being killed by the destroyer. The Red Queen's daughter from Tortall Alanna arrives (having inadvertantly discovered the dreamtrails that she can access because of the fact the Red Queen was her mother) and she kills the destroyer to save Elspeth then returns to her own reality (believing it was all a very odd dream or perhaps an act of the gods). Elspeth, now safe with the destroyer gone, completes her quest, and the Red Queen learns from Elspeth of the amazing warrior her daughter has become and learns of her grandchildren and thus can live happily in her own reality knowing her other daughter is safe.
oh this theory makes me so so ridiculously happy! Though it probably is a bit unlikely I suppose *sigh* ;D
The Red Queen did not die, she was thrown out of the ship when the whales attacked they carried her off and the creatures if the sea healed her, she found her way back to the caves in the red land where she uses the same talent as dragon posesses to convey the terrifying image of the thingy that the slaves all fear but she does not kill them she is recruiting them for the time when elspeth comes to save them all.
How did the red queen not die? Well, as we all know, the variety of talents that exist is continually broadening, and the red queen exhibited a REALLY strange one. She has the ability to change shape and survived by turning into a dolphin and taking Dragon to land (being so young, dragon understandably didn't understand what happened, so believes her mother dead) For reasons unknown and yet to be revealed, she remained in dolphin form, but a bit confused as to her identity. Later she reappears as the confused dolphin who carries Elspeth around (who cannot keep their name straight).
She will have something to do with the trip over to LOTRQ, as a guide, perhaps. But she either won't survive, or will remain a dolphin by choice - Dragon does have to become the next queen, and from what we've seen of her, the old queen might not be suited to war...
I only just realised that entries closed for this theory challenge a couple of days ago ~:|
This is a really difficult one to judge! I like everyone's theories. I really like Darkqueen's succinct little theory.. and Maz yours is just.. epic. xD But I think I will go with Maruman's theory, because imo it seems the most plausible. :)
so Maruman, your turn.

And yet I'm grumpy as you've made me wake up from my eternal kitty-slumber.
Hmmmmm let's see.
Give a detailed analysis of Kella's reaction to Ariel's murder of Domick, how will she figure in the Sending? How will her rage lead her against Ariel?
Keep in mind I obviously want it to be a large role.

Yes, and no bad gRaMmAr or spilleng.
Got it.
Give a detailed analysis of Kella's reaction to Ariel's murder of Domick, how will she figure in the Sending? How will her rage lead her against Ariel?
Kella, despite improving over time, has never gotten over Domick. Her seemingly impotent rage against Ariel will be only the greater for it's supposed impotence.
My theory is that Kella as she was not mentioned strictly by name in the first book will not be the destroyer. She will, however kill Ariel, giving Elspeth the opportunity to terminate the weaponmachines.
Thus saving Elspeth from all of Ariel's evil.
It fits, if I do say so myself, and only Elspeth, Matthew and now Kella have a reason to kill Ariel, Matthew for Cameo, Elspeth for Ruston and Cameo and as above Kella.
Now Matthew has Dragon, it won't be him.
Now, Elspeth killing Ariel in a one-on-one battle is sublime but unlikely, as Ariel plays dirty.
He also has no concept of love, and as he doesn't know Kella, he cannot fathom her hate.
Kella will kill Ariel.

Here's another outrageous theory... :D
Kella travelled all the way to Sutrium in The Stone Key to help at the healing centre there but really she was hoping to find Domick. Of course, Domick is on the other side of the Suggredoon. While Elspeth is busy saving the West Coast, Kella receives a message from Maryon who has futuretold that Kella must return to Obernewtyn if she is to find her heart's desire... And that's why it's mentioned that she had travelled back to Obernewtyn.
While she's at Obernewtyn, she hears of the news that Domick died of the plague & is griefstricken. She hears that Ariel is responsible & that Ariel had tortured Domick despicably. Boy, is she mad! While she is fuming away (unable to perform her healer duties due to the angry, unhealthy emanations she's giving out), Elspeth returns & tells her of their intended journey to the Red Queen's land.
This is the real reason why Maryon foretold that Kella needs to be at Obernewtyn. You see, Kella needed to be there when Elspeth returned. The timing is crucial because this enabled Kella to tag along to the expedition to the Red Queen's land. She convinces/blackmails Elspeth into taking her along on the pretext that if there was fighting, they would need healers. But what Kella really wants to do is to find Ariel (who she now knows is in the Red Queen's land) & avenge Domick!
So off they go to the Red Queen's land. It is a long & boring journey where they keep running out of water only to find untainted land just in time to refuel & keep going.
Elspeth, Matthew, and Kella end up going into the Entina (Sentinal) pit/complex, which controls the remaining weaponmachines. There are many booby-traps & after going over the last rickety suspension bridge (whose purpose remains unknown...), they finally reach the control room. But alas, Ariel has reached there too (at coincidentally the same time)!
Matthew is quickly injured by Ariel & out of action. Kella sees her opportunity. Here's a chance to kill Ariel & avenge Domick (even if it does kill them all). One of the booby-traps had a big red button, which, when pressed, set off a bomb. The control room has a panel which has an identical big red button... Elspeth & Ariel (and Matthew on the floor) watch in horror as Kella lunges for the big red button...
Yes, Kella is the Destroyer!!!
Now, I've exaggerated incredibly here but supposing that Kella has a part to play in the next book, this is generally how I think the next story will flow - Journey to RQ land...action in Entina pit/complex

Give a detailed analysis of Kella's reaction to Ariel's murder of Domick, how will she figure in the Sending? How will her rage lead her against Ariel?
Well, we all know the line Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Ariel not only killed Kella’s bondmate, he tortured him into madness. Nothing could be more abhorrent or heartbreaking to a healer.
Now, Kella is a rather calm and rational woman, not one to fly into a rage, instead, I believe Kella will seethe with fury at Ariel. This fury will build she’ll become quite withdrawn from those around her, causing them to worry about her, but she will be quietly determining just exactly how to get Ariel.
Elspeth probably won’t notice, other than brief thoughts (Dragon, anyone!?) as she will be wrapped up in her quest. However, the other Obernewtyn-ers will. Gradually Kella will become so shut off, she will just leave – disappear, rather like Miryum. She will leave with a blind determination to avenge Domick’s death.
Now how will she do this exactly? Well now!
We have our darling Obernewtyn-er Talents being used in warped ways by the twisted freak that is Ariel. such as the empathy and futuretelling; as well as the coercing etc.
So, if Elspeth has dark Taletns that are accessibly in grief and anger, how do we know that not all Talents have this polar opposite?
So yes, I’m going to suggest it. Kella’s sweet calm healing ability will become warped by her fury towards Ariel.
Somehow (in a manner only known to grief-striken women) she will find him, and will do anything she can to be near him. This will involve the intolerable thought of Kella crossing to Ariel’s side… or so we think.
This is the ultimate betrayal to Obernewtyn, but Kella is beyond that. Nothing else matters but making Ariel pay. She will use her healing powers to poison his insides, slowly it will shut down cells, organs, systems, eventually locking him within his own head full of torture. .
Mental Image: Ariel, lank greasey hair hanging in his face; sitting in the corner rocking back and forth holding on to a motheaten blankie. He will waste away, locked into the memories of torturing others.

Give a detailed analysis of Kella's reaction to Ariel's murder of Domick, how will she figure in the Sending? How will her rage lead her against Ariel?
Kella went back to Obernewtyn, because she was worried about Dragon and thought that she may have returned to Obernewtyn. When Kella gets to Obernewtyn, Maryon tells her what she has seen of Domick and all of the going ons with Ariel's whereabouts. Kella believes that Domick was made ill by Ariel, and her suspicions are confirmed when Elspeth arrives from Sador and tells her what she knows of Ariel's doings to Domick.
Kella is furious and demands to be let go on the journey to the Red Queen's land. She is immediately refused by Elspeth, who gives her the excuse that they need her to wait for Dragon, as Elspeth hopes that Dragon will accompany them, she tries to make out they will leave before they find Dragon.
Kella seethes with her fury, and goes about waiting for Rushton to put her request to him. When he arrives, he too says no. Kella secretly hides in a wagon as they make their journey to the ships. When she sees Ariel, all her fury will be released. In an attempt to kill Ariel, she herself is killed before Elspeth works out what has happened. Ariel is shocked at the healer's rage at him over what he did, because he thought that no one would care because of the things Mika did. During his confusion after killing Kella he lets his guard down, leaving Elspeth with an opportunity to strike at him with her death power.
Give a detailed analysis of Kella's reaction to Ariel's murder of Domick, how will she figure in the Sending? How will her rage lead her against Ariel?
kella under stood that domick still loved her and still loved him endlessly. When elspeth comes back to obernewtyn she tells kella of the tragedy and kella stares back at elspeth for a second and then runs away tears pouring down her face."why?" she screams to lud, "why do u do this to me, why?" she runs out of obernewtyn colapeing but getting back up. she staggers endlessly to the darthnor. soon there is rain pouring down and she colapses under a flimsy house shelter a falls asleep. she wakes up in a small house were a young woman greets her. "are u ok, we (she points to a man in the corner) found u outside and wanted to help" kella stares back in dibelife and says "h...who arr you" "i dosent matter" the girl replied in an over sweet voice. "here, drink this" she hands her a mug ok something that smeels familiar. she drinks it thanks the young lady and falls asleep. she wakes up later and hears the voices of the young copule. "shes one of the obernewtyn freaks" says the 'real' voice of the young lady . "i know, we must kill her" says the man.terified kella realises that the drink was sleep posion and that if she dosen't run fast she is going to die.she quickly slips out of the house and dosen't stop running till she reaches the suggredoon.she is starving but tells herself
atleast i can fell, domick is dead and cant. she starts crying and she is about to jump into the deadly
waters of the suggredoon
when she hears a voice "stop lady don't jump" she looks and sees swallow."i am no lady i am nothing but the love of a dead man, killed by the endless cruelty in this world.so now i go to join him" swallow walks up to her and says "i am a gypsy who rules gypsies and i....."he i rudely inturuped when irony run up and screams "kella, hello kella i never thought i'd see u again" swallow turns to irony and says " is this kella"? "yes its kella, hello (turns to kella) i thought id never see u again!" kella finds out that irony is swallows brother etc and kella tells them of domick."kella, i know that u have been hurt by a wound we cant heal, but let us help u"say swallow "i know this man u speek of ariel, he currently has gone to the herder isle and we have a ship about to travel there. kella after being persuaded goes onto the ship and is going to kill ariel but sadly is pushed (by a hater a misfits) overbored and dies.
sorry for the sad ending
