There's probably a website devoted to The Hand somewhere... [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/wink.gif" alt=";)" border="0"/>
The assistant guy (who's Welsh, btw, not English) is called Ianto.

Well, i think because we're on the second page, i can avoid the spoiler thing. I'm just going to say this is comments up to episode 4, so if you haven't seen that far, :S sorry!
And yes, Jack was a little bit on the cranky side. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but you know what, when it comes to Cybermen, i'd be pretty p!ssed too if someone had snuck a conversion unit into your home along with a cyberman. How freaky was it?? Yick those things scare the hell out of me.
what was the year that Jack was left on earth? How long has he been living as immortal? How many times has he died in that time? That would wear on anyone, i would think. And does he lose a bit of himself every time he does die? Is that why he's changed?
*waits until she can get her hands on the next episode*
curse the breaking of my download limit! i don't think i'll be able to get any of the next episodes for a long time. *panics*
EDIT: Yep, i think i'm right about the colours. Green means innocence, or a type of innocence. The girl who was possessed in the second episode, the walls in her house were painted green. The boy who lived in Splot wore green, and his different green hoddies were on display when they went to his apartment, which was also wallpapered with a green pattern.
Red means guilty, dangerous, nasty stuff. The streets at night are made to look like blood/veins. The man who raped and killed that girl, his whole house was painted red or the wallpaper was red. The hoodie that Gwyn took off that kid she was chasing with the ghost machine in it was red, instead of the usual green that kid wore for the rest of the episode.
what's interesting is the way they've decorated the apartments of the various Torchwood people. They're very beige, aren't they? Yet Gwyn has a shot of blue through hers.... I haven't rewatched the first episode for a time, so i might just go do that...
Yeah, i know, reading a lot into it, but i've been doing Media Studies for three years, i can't help myself, it's keyed in. [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
GAH! Bloody VCR! Only recorded the first ten minutes of episode 4! Now i've got to wait till they repeat it Wednesday on BBC2 [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/sad.gif" alt=":(" border="0"/>
Well, we watched it last night...
...who on earth wrote that episode?! It was scary, but it seemed a bit...different/off from the other episodes...can't exactly put my finger on it though. *shrugs*
It was bloody scary though...
Oh, and I loved finding out something about Jack's past. Where on earth is he from? How long has he been around for? I can't wait to find out more!!
I've decided that Borrowman is a great actor, too [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif" alt=":D" border="0"/> he was so bloody emotional in that episode, it was amazing, heart wrenching, you could feel his pain, his fear, anger, etc. He's just brilliant.
After watching that ep, I put on The Empty Child again to see if I could get any clues out of Doc Who about him...there's not much though...
Ok, I'm a bit confuzzled, was the one on Sun ep4 or ep5?? Aaanyway, me like [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>
I liked seeing the conflict between the team and the emotional range of Jack. Agreed Min, I think Barrowman's great. He's such a determined person. I remember seeing snippets Dancing On Ice and he was just so focussed on getting everything right and really pushing himself to the limit. Even if it was on a reality ice dancing show [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
I think that ep seemed different from the others because it was so much about emotion. Big emotions from the leader. It was so sad that he was still in love with a woman who didn't know who he was, and to see her so far on in her life...*sniff*
I'm wondering if each ep will focus on a different character in some way. Everything Changes was Gwen's story, Ghost Machine seemed quite focussed on Owen, Cyberwoman Ianson, the last ep was Jack. Toshko next?
Oh, and Min, it was Peter Hammond who wrote that ep [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/>
Also, does the Doctor know why Jack can't die? And will he be able to fix him? Just in the first Torchwood ep when he said "I'll find a Dr, the right kind of Doctor" I kinda thought he meant Dr Who? Or is that me just grasping onto the obvious? I can't remember anything from the Dr Who series other than the Doctor seeming to know what had happened to Jack.
It was episode 4. I shall hopefuly watch it tonight. Someone is recording it for me as i'm working late again tonight
I think the confusion is that episode 1 & 2 were played together on Torchwood opening night, weren't they?
So, this is the 4th week.
Yep, they played episodes 1 & 2 together.
i'm looking forward to (hopefuly) watching it when i get home tonight
[img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/> I should be getting episodes of torchwood sometime next week [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/> *is excited* it sounds really good
It is the best!
Yay! Finally got to watch the next three episodes today. Much goodness!
I don't really have much more to add to whats been said, but Lucy... I don't think the Doctor does know about Jack being not able to die as he was revived by the power of the Tardis and then the Doctor and Rose left before seeing him again. So we don't know what has happened to him between being left on Satellite 5 and getting back to present day Cardiff. Who knows how many years he's experienced...
I know! Non-suited Ianto! [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/> I love his "Omg, I'm so scared I think I just peed my pants" expression. I imagine that's pretty much what I'd look like in that situation (if I was stll conscious).
Also...
...how cool was it when he headbutted the cannibal guy?! Teehee. Sorry, the 12 year old boy in me really liked that part [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
I liked Ianto mentioning Lisa when they were in the camp and seeing that there's still bad feelings between him and Jack. I kinda thought they were going to skip over the whole event and go back to normal.
Min, when you say what the hell about Gwen d'you mean about her reactions to her new situation or the fact that she'll jump into bed with anyone?! I think they might have spoilt that now. There could have been a lot of fun sexual tension between her and Owen and now it's all come to a climax a bit too soon (so to speak). Shall wait for the next episode to see how they deal with it. Has she dumped her boyf?
The only bit of that ep I really didn't like was the "Jack comes to the rescue" part. I mean, obviously Jack coming to the rescue is great, it was just the slow motion guns blazing thing I thought was a bit cheesy.
Well, i finaly got round to watching episode 4
It was good. Better than i expected. the whole fairy thing was interesting, especialy when they grew to their proper size! Its also nice to know that the people at Torchwood don't have an answer for everything, can't always fight everything, and are generaly fallabel like the rest of humanity
Lucy, the Dr that Jack was referring to was indeed the good Dr Who
Edit: I shall watch yesterdays episode when i get home from work. I've been looking forward to this one

The headbutt bit was great!!
And I'm talking about the latter. She just jumps into bed with Owen...I don't think she's split from her boyfriend because you see her just sitting there silently with him at the end...
Well, i watched it last night
What a superb episode! Edge of your seat all the way. Its almost like an episode of the X-Files!
Its lucky i have a strong stomach, as i was eating dinner when they discovered the first body in the woods.
The episode showed that us humans can be far more sick, depraved, and dangerous than any threat from the cosmos.
The characterisation was good, and the actors portrayed their fear very well. I suspected that the policeman was in league with them, and was proved right.
If future episodes are anythign like this, then the series will do very well. I'm looking forward to one of the future episodes (# 9 i think), that is supposed to have one of the creepiest opening title sequences of any show on TV!
Sorry for the double post
In a recent interview, Eve Myles (Gwen) said that John Barrowman (Jack) was always exposing himself on set. He's aparently forever walking around with his bum and other bits hanging out, and on more than one occasion has tapped her on the head with, what she calls, his 'wee man'
He's admitted it himself in other interviews (I think when he was on This Morning, or maybe Jonathan Ross). The contsraint of clothes is obviously too much for him. Hopefully I'll forget about it soon though or my opinion of Captain Jack will be forever tainted [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
Ha, "wee man"; I like it! Several jokes rolled into one [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>
Lucy, did you used to watch Live & Kicking on BBC1 on Saturday mornings? Jack Barrowman was one of the first presenters on that series, along with the awful Andi Peters

Maybe he's just staying in character on set? [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/wink.gif" alt=";)" border="0"/> it sounds like something the character Jack would do [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
D'you think? I know there are references to Captain Jack's rather frivolous love life, but he seems a bit to serious for such "slapstick" comedy.
DO, nooo way! I used to watch L&K but more at the Jamie Theakston/Zoe Ball stage. Damn. I obviously remember Andi Peters. Strange for them to be reunited on Dancing On Ice so many years later [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>

I guess he does seem that way in Torchwood...but I'll never forget one of the Satellite 5 episodes - he's transported into a makeover show (while Rose is on weakest link, Doc is in BB house) - standing there, butt naked going "Ladies, your ratings just went through the roof".
So cheeky [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
Yeah, that was funny.
I think his frivolity has gone somewhat though, due to the unknown events that got him from Satallite 5 to present day Cardiff

That last one was grizzly, and i loved it. Cept for the random directing in a few parts which were a bit bizarre, and not in a Torchwood/Dr Who way... :S I don't know what they were thinking with that Jack moment, maybe their budget was a little too tight to use blood packs or something. They would have had to pile the special effects on for those bodies, so their budget was at a bit of a stretch.
and Gwen is such a skankho! I know she's under all this stress and can't talk to her boyfriend about it all, but still, Skankho, and Owen ain't much better, at least he wasn't attached at the time, like her. i feel so sorry for her boyfriend. I knew their relationship was going to bust up, but the way she's behaving is just so cruel.
and guys, did you notice the Doctor's 3D-style glasses hanging off Jack's lamp in the Faeries episode? You know the ones he was using in Torchwood One to see what dimension people were from? I saw them and squeed. I love those glasses, every time the Doctor pulled them out i giggled, and it was so nice to have them around still.... small things [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>
and i'm so right about red and green! Don't trust them if they're wearing red! or have a red car or something like that. [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/>
