Canada requires 60% CanCon, with 50% of that airing in prime time, but from what I see being aired on the major American networks (those that broadcast in Canada, too... that is: NBC, ABC, WB, and FOX), I don't think any of it ISN'T American :-/ (though a lot of those shows are filmed in Canada --- especially the science fiction shows: Stargate and BSG were both filmed in Vancouver. If this Torchwood thing is picked up, there's a good chance they'll film that in V-city, too)

Don't Americans get sick of watching only Americans on TV? :-/ I know I'd definately get sick of Australian shows if that's all that was shown here.
I think a lot of Americans sometimes forget that there are film industries outside of Hollywood...
My friend Nathan had a good idea about this.
"Here's an idea, Fox pick up Torchwood, BBC pick up dollhouse. I'm sure there's a Dollhouse in Cardiff."
I think I could deal with Torchwood being shifted if this was even a possibility ::)
I'm amazed that RTD and a couple of his others are going over for this, too. Usually when the US picks up a show they end up just buying the idea, and re-writing completely. But the series creator, moving it?
My thought is it's him trying to definitively break into the US market now that he's made his mark with DW + TW (real Torchwood).
PML @ Fox being the network of choice XD oh dear...

From memory RTD moved to the US late year with plans to stay and work there. Maybe thats why the move for Torchwood as well.
Yeah, at least it might be somewhat quality since they're keeping some of the original people, not rewriting the whole thing and stupidly keeping the title.
You can all stop weeping now. Regardless of whether or not the US series goes ahead, it has been confirmed that there will be a season four of Torchwood in the UK.
John Barrowman has confirmed that the series will be returning for a fourth season, and that it will be a little longer than Children of the Earth. Its already been said that the series will contain 13 episodes rather than 5.
It has been mentioned in my Sky TV magazine as forthcomming, so I suspect that it will be broadcast later this year.
I'm wondering where they will build the new set though. The reason the original set was destroyed was to make way for the new TARDIS set, which will cover the current set, and the space left by the Torchwood one

Maybe since Casualty is set to move production to Cardiff they'll get their old set over in Bristol. How awful would that be: Torchwood - Bristol ~:| It would just be full of lots of awful shots of them driving/running/fighting on/falling off the suspension bridge.
I'd like Torchwood - Melbourne so that I could go see John Barrowman, but maybe that's just me :P
I'd hate to see Johnny boy go. Me and my mum love him! lol ;D

Torchwood - Melbourne! It certainly has a certain ring to it :P Though I think I prefer "Torchwood - A little town on the Far South Coast" much better  Thanks for the good news DO :)
Lol! This is sounding like a spinoff of CSI..
Torchwood feat. Cat-Eyes would also be acceptable :P
++++++ Torchwood News +++++++
From BBC News
US Torchwood remake is put on hold
Plan to make a US version of the Doctor who spin-off Torchwood have been put on ice after TV network Fox pulled out.
In a statement, BBC Worldwide said both companies had "mutually agreed not to progress together with a 13-episode serialized Torchwood format".
However, the BBC said discussions with other networks were continuing and plans to get the show made for US audiences were still in the pipeline.
The sci-fi drama, starring John Barrowman, has been a hit in the UK.
The show, which follows a group of secret agents battling human and alien enemies, began life on BBC Three in 2006.
It proved so popular that it was moved to BBC Two - and attracted another ratings boost when a third series was shown on BBC One last year.
However, the last move resulted in the series being cut from 13 episodes to five - allowing a single continuing story to be stripped across a week of programmes.
At the time, Barrowman criticised the decision, saying he felt like the show was "being punished".
BBC Worldwide is the commercial arm of the BBC.

A Torchwood musical?! :O OML, can you imagine how much more emotional Children of Earth would be if it was all to music :"(
But I'm also imagining some intense hilarity XD
Lol! I can imagine John Barrowman doing a musical version of Captain Jack
A musical episode would've been awesome! Maybe not Children of the Earth, but a regular and less creepy episode would've been fantastic! I'd be happy with a musical Doctor Who too :P
I wonder why they'd be travelling around the world....perhaps setting up new Torchwood locations? :D
Though, why Gwen would travel outside of Cardiff when she's just had a baby...eh, who knows, maybe she does it to get away from the monotony of married/motherly life, for some excitement...
Or, maybe it won't be set straight after the end of CoE :P
Cool! Thanks for the info Min
I doubt it will directly follow on from CoE, as Jack left to get away from all the pain, and then met Alonzo at that alien bar (Star Wars Cantina anyone?) in David Tennants final Who episode.
He will probably be back, but it might take him time.
I can't imagine Rhys being too happy as he'd be left with the baby as Gwen jets off round the world
Yeah, that's my thought too...what about Rhys?
Hmm, I keep forgetting this isn't shiny/happy/Who, this is dark/more real/quite often depressing Torchwood. Who says that Rhys will even be around when the new Torchwood starts? :-/ perhaps his...departure (in whatever way it happens...death, destruction, etc) will force Gwen to get up and go (not that I want Rhys to die, they've already killed enough of our Torchwood faves!)...
Lets hope his name is added to the confirmed list in the next couple of months :)
