Bittermute algae
Description:
A type of algae found in the oceans of Keltor that paralyzes the body and allows only basic motor functions (like blinking and breathing) to occur. It is usually only found in calm waters where it can collect, as it is separated in rough waters.
Translation:
Bitter - Having a peculiar, acrid, biting taste, like that of wormwood or an infusion of hops; as, a bitter medicine; bitter as aloes.
Mute - Incapable of speaking; dumb.
Algae - Any of various chiefly aquatic, eukaryotic, photosynthetic organisms, ranging in size from single-celled forms to the giant kelp. Algae were once considered to be plants but are now classified separately because they lack true roots, stems, leaves, and embryos. (derived from the latin word for seaweed).
Notes:
Solen is convinced that Glynn has swallowed this type of algae, explaning why she cannot move or speak in the beginning of Darkfall.
