obernewtyn_chronicles_re_read.jpg In the lead up to the release of The Sending sometime in September, the Obernet Book Club is hosting a joint re-reading of the Obernewtyn Chronicles.

This isn't just for those who haven't read the books (or haven't finished reading them), but also an opportunity for those of us who have read them a few times and need a refresher to get stuck back into theories and such before the newest book is released.

To find out the structure of the re-read, and any further instructions, visit the Obernet Book Club Announcement Thread and for information about the Ober Book Club in General, visit this thread.

Isobelle was in Hobart last night for the launch tour and I took the chance to ask her about the changes to the new edition of Obernewtyn. As far as she knows it is only the US versions that are updated as she was asked to revise them for a US audience.

However, she really really likes what she was able to revise in Obernewtyn and the Farseekers so is keen for future Aussie editions to be revised as well. Now I just need to decide if I want to source an american edition or stick with my old much loved and reread original.....

PS. So lovely to hear Isobelle speak again, she is just the most beautiful, incredible and inspiring woman :)

I've only read The Stone Key once, and due to a printing error in my copy I ended up reading a few other books before I could finish it, so by the time I got back in to it I couldn't remember everyone/thing and I ended up a bit confused! So I'm looking forward to getting settled in my head exactly what happened! Also, you're so excited to get through the book and find out what happens when you read it the first time that I think you often miss things, and there are things you don't pick up on the first time because they become important later.

That's a great idea Min, will give me an excuse to pick up my popular penguin edition of Obernewtyn.

Yay! I'm going to take this opportunity to read the new editions too - I've heard there's a fair bit different in Obernewtyn itself. Every time I go for one of them I tend to pick up my old/tattered/first copies I bought, and I should check out the updates..!
