A finalist in the book-cover category for her exquisite, sophisticated, Deco-style cover of author Isobelle Carmody’s book, Obernewtyn, she was being interviewed, pre-ceremony, about her entry. “If you could ask one question of Isobelle Carmody, what would it be? Bridgette was asked. As she attempted to answer, her interviewer interjected with: “Perhaps you should ask her directly.” Bridgette, who eventually placed second in the book cover category, turned to see her idol standing there.
Isobelle Carmody recently surprised one of the finalists in the Paper Cuts competition (a competition where school kids design covers and book trailers for their favourite books) to praise the designer, Bridgette Van Diepen, for her entry, which was a cover of Obernewtyn.
