Okay I have a fascination with the moon and Rushton's Grandmother so....
Who is Rushton’s Grandmother and why does she hate the moon?
And explain the significance of her relationship with the Twentyfamilies gypsies and her trips to the mountains.

"Who is Rushton’s Grandmother and why does she hate the moon? And explain the significance of her relationship with the Twentyfamilies gypsies and her trips to the mountains."
We've all read the discussions about how it might just be possible that Cassie Duprey defied fate several times by time traveling. I'm telling you that its not only possible but very true. Infact i believe that rushtons grandma was Cassie. What the hell you think, but Ness continues with her justifing explaintion...
Cassie (rushies nanny) had an adversion for the moon because thats where the BOT weapon machines are hidden and she knew it. The reason she behaved so strangely about it was because of the time travelling. (It's not good to jump through time like that. Puts holes in ones brains trying to work out where you are -try watching back to the future and you'll suddenly understand what i mean) This jumping through time has a rather severe affect on her mind but she blocked it away using her talent, as her old age came slowly she released it bit by bit until she went batty and stared at the moon endlessly.
Cassie is known to have had a child - a female daughter - at the time that she first came to the land with the gypsies. This was rushtons mother. At the time when it came for cassie to disappear form the gypsies she moved forward in time to leave the final clue for elsepth. Her daughter must have known how to do this and followed her also when she finally felt that she was missing her too much. Only the wise elders of the gypsies knew about this so they encouraged the gypsies to go visit them out of respect while never explaining exactly why.
The trips to the mountains (i don't remember if she actually went but i can explain why she would have gone if she did :P) were for 2 reasons. 1) to keep an eye on obernewtyn, and make sure it was inhabited. Remember Rushton wouldn't have been able to go there and find out who he was if no one lived there. The second reason was to lure Michael down to the low lands to meet her daughter. What mother doesn't try to match make her child? And if you were a future teller and saw your protege falling in love with your grandson, would you try to stop it? I hope not...
A possible 3rd is that louis caught her eye too but we wont go there... ;)

Who is Rushton’s Grandmother and why does she hate the moon? And explain the significance of her relationship with the Twentyfamilies gypsies and her trips to the mountains.
Rushton’s Grandmother is no ordinary lady. My theory is that she is like a sister to Cassy, and is respected by the twentyfamily gypsies because of her relationship to Cassy. She is also a beforetime misfit, and often went to the mountains before the Great White to go to the clinic. Her trips to the mountain after the Great White were to visit Obernewtyn, and to look at the doors with the map, so that if she got the chance she might help the seeker in her quest to destroy the beforetime weapons. She was doing this for Cassy. She hates the moon because she feels that it sees everything, but chooses not to tell anyone. It is as if it is mocking her with its secrets. It knew what would happen, The Great White, and did nothing at all. It was Rushton’s Grandmother, who helped to teach Maruman to hate the moon too, by just being around him.

It is my theory that Atthis spoke to her, and she began to remember things about her past. She remembered her true identity, and that she must return to the Red Queen's Land. She also remembered her mother, but not that she was dead.
Dragon set out to find her mother. She was guided by Atthis, although she had no real idea of where she was going. Her memory was still confused.
Dragon is a very powerful coercer. She traveled on foot, cloking herself with invisibility. She occasionally got lifts in the back of people's wagons.
She did not intentionally seek out anyone, knowing that it would be dangerous, and that they would probably try to stop her.
Atthis sent Darga to her, to guide her. Darga led her to a hidden place near where Elspeth will eventually go. They will both meet Elspeth there when the time is right.
Meanwhile, Dragon's memory will continue to develop. Her journey was necessary to jog some of the memories, including the hidden knowledge of the location of one of the signs.

Explain how Lidgebaby is alive, where he is now, how he was separated from Gilaine and the others, and what his future role will be.
I hope some people will be able to reply to that one. There should be a few different possible theories. :)

When Ariel raided the Druid's camp with Salamander's forces, he forced Saul into telling him who or most likely what was blocking his powers... it led to Ariel finding Lidgebaby and keeping him for a "special circumstance" where he would foresee the need for Elspeth's powers to be blocked In example, an important moment would be when they find the weaponmachines and Elspeth can't destroy them with her powers, giving Ariel enough time to set them off, or force the "destroyer" to set them off. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH(but Maruman saves the day, 'course;D )

congratulations Avialle- i enjoyed your theory
I think that one of those bonded to Lidgebaby was either a futureteller or had a true dream of what would happen. my thoughts are that it was possibly Saul, and so he escaped from the camp before Ariel arrived, but in his dream he saw that he must let what would happen happen otherwise what was meant to be would not.So Saul took Lidgebaby and fled to hide in the Ford of Rangorn for a time. It is as much Lidgebaby's importance as Saul's in the future, because I think that they will journey to the Red Queen's Land with Elspeth, and that Lidgebaby will be part of the key to finding the sign left there by Cassie.

Explain how Lidgebaby is alive, where he is now, how he was separated from Gilaine and the others, and what his future role will be.
Lidgebaby's talent was very noticeable. It blanketed other talents, and bound those who he/she wanted to (essentially) serve him.
So, how could Ariel, friend to the Druid at the time of Lidge's birth, not notice this massively powerful coercive baby?
Lidgebaby is alive, because Ariel wanted that power. When he took the Druids to Salamander, he took Lidge for himself. I doubt very much that the slavers would have accepted a baby, and Ariel would have sniffed out the power for his own uses by then anyway.
The certainty of Ariel's taking Lidgebaby partly comes from the development of the Demon Bands. A tainted material that blocks talents? It's kind of exactly what Lidgebaby was doing to those from Obernewtyn in the encampment. I'm betting Ariel had something to do with their development. He probably got the idea from studying Lidge's talent.
Where is he now? It's very obvious - he's Ariel's second special null. In TSK, Elspeth's told that Ariel has two 'special' nulls that he keeps by him for special missions; a man (Domick), and a child. Who else could this child be, but the slightly-grown-up Lidgebaby? Why mention the second child-null at all, if he's not someone we know already?
The separation from Lidge would have undoubtedly caused much pain for Gilaine, Saul and the others bound to the baby - but there wasn't much they could do about it. Either learn to use their talents without Lidge, or die, basically. They obviously adapted to life without Lidge.
For Lidge - who knows if it caused pain, problems, anything? Perhaps Ariel found a way to bind himself to Lidge, so that he could still use his talents around the child?
What future role will Lidge have to play? Well, if he is Ariel's other special null (and - let's face it - who else could the child-null be?), Ariel's most likely going to use Lidge to cripple Elspeth's talent, come Sentinel-confrontation-time. Elspeth may have to face the trials of the Sentinel, Talent-less. It will be interesting to see what role Empathy plays, if this is the case; since we know Empathy is the only talent that can get around the demon bands (Hellooooo, Dameon!).
Ooops! Sorry, I forgot that it was my turn. ~:| Well, it's only a few days late.
Anyway, the winner is... Min!
I really liked all of the theories, so well done to everyone who entered. I thought Arwen's was original and creative. TSC's and Min's were very similar, and they were both good. However, I'm going to have to give it to Min because she explained things better, and clarified a few extra points. :)

Theory...gosh...um...okay. Non-serious one.
Make me believe that Selmar is the Destroyer.
And I'm looking out for anyone that can make me laugh in their answer.
I'm not sure I can make you laugh...
When Selmar was supposedly mutilated by Ariel's wolves, she was, in fact, escaping from Obernewtyn in a way Ariel would never suspect, Selmar ran into the Teknoguilder's caves and started digging with a giant spoon. She eventually dug her way to the Red Queen's Land where, after a case of mistaken identity, she was mistaken for the daughter of the gatekeeper's second cousin.
She applied for a job as a senior overseer after having a vision of the entina. A horrifying mechanical Aurochs (Bull). She eventually made it through the stringent guards and walked the deathroad, and accidently slipped on the wet bitumen, supporting herself on a red stick protruding from the wall, which set of the weaponmachines. After some frantic movements after a vision told her what she had just done, she pulled the lever down and saved the day. Then a screen fell down and a video game was playing, finding the lever was also the control, from another vision. dur. She pulls down the lever and starts playing, and a s the video game is so addictive she forgets about the weaponmachines. Elspeth waltzes in with Maruman, intending to stop Selmar but is soon attracted to the lever. Which breaks while still down.
Maruman then gets flatulenca nervosa and fixes the problem, smellily (lol. Is that a word?)

Selmar is the destroyer because of her damaged mine, which was caused by Ariel, who wanted to find the location of a treasure map that had been hidden. Little did he know, he had been the one to activate the secret quest of Selmar to destroy the world for good. One of his wolves which were sent to kill Selmar, was offered a kingdom of there own by her, if it would carry her beyond the Blacklands. The reason there was only one plast suit in Jacob Obernewtyn's grave was because she had had the wolf dig it up, and coerced it to look like it was undisturbed. She took with her the key that had been left with Jacob's body, and allowed the wolves to have his bones. So she wore the plast suit, and rode on the wolf to the Blacklands. The wolf kept going, driven by promises of riches, eventually dying of rotting sickness, leaving Selmar to walk the rest of the way. She has been waiting to get to the weaponmachines, aand has been kept hidden, making Elspeth think Ariel is the Destroyer, because she coerced him into believing he was, so he has been watching Elspeth for Selmar, who hated Elspeth, because she knew who she was, and tried to stop going to Alexi and the others, so that she wouldn't find out about the weaponmachines. Rasial is a spy for Selmar, and belives that Elspeth will kill her, and for Selmar to suceed, she must die. Rasial, instead will lead Elspeth to the Blacklands, who will be doing Gavyns bidding for Selmar.

It turns out Selmar didn't die. As we know, Selmar's mind is a mess. She began to believe that she was a wolf, so she went to live with the wolves in the mountains. The brildane left her alone - they were afraid her mindchaos might be catching! Somehow in her madness she decided to swim across the ocean to The Land of the Red Queen.
She went into the Sentinal complex after Elf, but without seeing her. INES asked Selmar who she was, and she replied "the saviour of all" and laughed maniacally, so INES locked her into the room. Unfortunately Selmar was in the Control Room. She stared around at all the controls, and then got distracted by a weird round coloured thing she found, and picked it up and threw it wildly. It immediately bounced madly around the room, hitting all the controls and switches, including a big red button. Immediately there was a million beeping sounds and flashing lights, and INES started counting down from 30.
Elf and Maruman ran into the room, which was miraculously open again. Elf stared in shock, then started running around panicking. Maruman meanwhile noticed a big plug in the wall behind the machines, saying "DO NOT TOUCH". Suddenly there was a sparky noise and everything went quiet. Elf turned around to see Maruman with twisty blackened whiskers and the plug hanging out of his mouth. He noticed her staring.
"What?" he sent.
Selmar in her crazed state forgot her name. She could only remember bits and pieces...like it started with the letter S and she was sure it ended in an R. She could also remember other letters, but she wasn't sure what order they were in... like an A, and L and M and E. So she made up a new name for herself with those letters - SALAMANDER. (Selmar also couldn't remember that she was a girl. So she thought she was a boy; just a very pretty boy)
When she was happy with this new name of Salamander, she pretended to die as a practical joke. She wanted to see how many people would turn up to her funeral, so she hid in a corner. But no one came, except for Ariel because he sadistically enjoys watching dead people. Selmar/Salamader got mad. Very Very Mad. Because Ariel was the only one who came to her funeral, despite his questionable motives, she decided to spare him. But the rest weren't so lucky. Especially Elspeth whom Selmar thought was her bestfriend.
Selmar/Salamander decided to take revenge on all Obernewtyners; and especially Elspeth. She used Ariel to do all her dirty work, but really she was the mastermind. She ended up as a trader of slaves - selling them and gaining really high profits. She became so rich as Salamander that one day she ate a fruit from a foreign land called Sador. It looked orange (Beforetimers would know this as a mango). Unfortunately for Selmar/Salamander, she had an allergic reaction to the mango and turned a tan coloured skin. Her eyes also changed to a yellowy mango colour.
In another incident as Selmar/Salamander; she heard rumours of a distant land called The Land of the Red Queen. One of the rumours said that one day, there would be a ruler of this land. Selmar wanted to be the ruler; so she destroyed a lot of ships and a lot of people. Finally she reached LORTR; and Destroyed any one else. She gained the reputation of the Destroyer.
Selmar liked this new name. Ariel convinced her that she needed to destroy more things, especially Obernewtyn. She still hadn't had her revenge. So the Destroyer decided that the world was not enough. She needed to destroy the WHOLE WORLD. But how could she do this?
One day, Ariel got his own piece of land on Norseland. Ariel liked to buy Selmar gifts so that she wouldn't Destroy him. He bought her things like rich Sadorian cloths and brooches, which he kept at his home. Selmar fell down a hole one day when she visited Ariel's home. She discovered a huge rocket with an instruction manual on how to use it. She also used one of Ariel's nulls to dream about what she could do with it. The null told her that she could use it and similar weaponmachines to Destroy Obernewtyn, Elspeth and the World. That was the moment when Selmar/Salamander realised her true potential. She would use these weaponmachines and fulfil her destiny as the Destroyer.

Explain how Elspeth is being set up by the Agyllians, who are actually trying to destroy the world. Also, explain how Maruman fits into their plan.
We know that Maruman has a weird mind signature and all that. The Agyllians could have done this to him as they contact Elspeth through him. Maruman could have been led to believe that the Agyllians are on the good side and it is because of them that he has his 'madness fits'. Without his unstable mind they can't contact Elspeth, which would destroy their chance at causing another great white. They would need maruman because if the destroyer found out what the Agyllians were up to they probably wouldn't want to blow up their world either, so they have to contact Elspeth in a way that wouldn't set off what they're trying to do. Elspeth trusts them because she trusts Maruman, otherwise she might be able to see what they're doing. The Agyllians were in the past as little birds and they were the govamen symbol. What if even then they were trying to control the world and they were the ones who helped cause the great white with their telepathic powers. Now they need to finish off the job so they get the land for themselves. But they need Elspeth because of her strange mix of powers. She is the only one who can interpret Cassy's signs and without her they have to find another Misfit with her powers.
Ariel could also be on the Agyllians side to scare Elspeth. The Agyllians have special powers to enter people's minds and Ariel has that special coercive talent which could easily be a device to manipulate the people around Elspeth to push her to try and 'save' the world while the Agyllians use her to find the weapon, not to render it useless, but to use it on mankind so they can get their superiority back. Also, Cassy could have made the signs specific for Elspeth to ensure that the Agyllians did not cause another great white. She spent alot of time with the birds when she was in the institute, and Atthis spoke to her, so it's not completely out of place to say that Cassy could have seen through the birds and made the signs in the hope of spoiling the birds plans.
Hope that wasn't too repetitive

The Agyllians have a LONG history. Their predecessors, who were somehow genetically modified, were held captive because of their superior intelligence. In their captivitiy, they were held in a room full of other lab tested animals. One of these animals was Merrimyn.
The birds genetic modification had gone wrong however. They became cunning, ruthless, bloodthirsty and manipulative. They wanted revenge against their creators because they thought humans were stupid creatures who created monsters. The birds began to have a God complex and wanted to destroy the world so that all humans would die. They planned to repopulate the planet and reign supreme once all humans were dead.
The Agyllians brainwashed Merrimyn into thinking that they had an escape plan to set all animals free, and that if he wanted to be free then he would have to serve them. Merrimyn only agreed with the birds because he thought they looked tasty, and once they were free he could eat them all for dinner. (this was Maruman's secret plan)
Since the birds were part of a secret Govamen program, only the highest officials and govamen figures all around the world had access to them. The Agyllians used this opportunity to implant ideas of hatred for the other world powers in their each of their minds. They used their genetically modified powers to instil a plan of a nuclear weapons system in the human's heads.
The heads of power for each state secretly plotted to wipe the other powers out. So they all set up their own systems. At a United Nations meeting however, all these dastardly plans were revealed and they signed a treaty at Geneva to install a BOT system.
The Agyllian's plans were going well up to this point, because they knew instincitvely that humans were greedy enough to annihalate eachother. They were gleeful when the Great White occurred. But it wasn't enough! There were still humans who had survived. The problem was that they didn't know where the Sentinel was. One of the Elders remembered however, a prediction by Cassy that the Seeker would find these machines. They decided to utilise the Seeker to find it; then when it was found, they would reactivate the machines to destroy the world.
Maruman had luckily survived because he was cyrogenically frozen. The Agyllian's defrosted Maruman when Elspeth was born and reminded him of his mission to help them.
The Agyllian's tricked Elf (as we saw in the farseekers) into thinking she had a mission to find and dismantle the machines. They made up lies that there was a male Destroyer so she would hurry up in her quest. They manipulated her dreams into thinking she was doing the bidding of a girl called Cassy. They used Maruman to spur Elf on everytime she got sidetracked with Rushton issues.
So now the Agyllians are playing the waiting game; and when the time is right, they will pounce! Meanwhile, Maruman waits even more patiently to POUNCE on the birds...so that he can finally have his dinner.

And I didn't specify whether I wanted serious responses or not, so I guess you can go either way, and I'll see what jumps out at me. ;D That said, I'm interested to see how plausible the serious entries end up being!
