Must. Maintain. Lead...
Actually, I feel somewhat fraudulent, given I set myself comparatively low targets. Jossie is still the champion among champions! Because let's face it, between us we've produced around 80,000 words since the start of December and that's incredible.

Haha, I do like competition insofar as it motivates me to keep going to catch up.
Celebrate now, Katie, for this will not remain so for long :P
But in seriousness, congratulations being the new champion, Katie! Low targets? Matters little so long as there are words produced, I say! Well done, and keep up the awesome work, because I won't be far behind :P
Also I saw that Shonks was catching up too - so I don't think she's too far behind? I maintain that ours is a supportive community of writers who are motivated by each other - so huzzah for us reaching around 80,000 as a group! WE ARE AMAZING :)
Don't we have until the end of Feb though...?

We're going for three months again? Winter was only for two this year? I am confused now.
EDIT: Okay, I just checked and no official dates have actually been given for this OberWri.
Winter is always June and July; summer always three months. I think it's to roughly capture semester breaks for those people still at uni or school.
I should be writing 75000 words then O_O
I also think that the initial information post says that it is also up to the person regarding timeframe and word target.
Mine would be approximately 2 months, instead of 3 for example.
Of course, Jossie :). The official dates are just the time period during which all us mad people on Writersmerge whip ourselves into a frenzy :).
Shonk, if you want to write 75k, we shall certainly not be averse to that :D.
It means I am waaay behind now though. [act]sighs[/act]
I've updated your total in the spreadsheet, by the way. And no, you're not. All you need is another 3.5k words in the next three days to be 1/3 of the way through, and thus on schedule.
Everyone else is already halfway through their goals though. [act]grumbles[/act]
Shonk don't grumble, I'm no where near....

Me either. Now that the stress of Christmas is over maybe I can get in some writing.
Hang on, so it's three months? I'm really hoping so because I'm seriously behind on my goal.
Tis 3 months, and as of today, you all as a group have exceeded 100k words!!!! Amazing work :D.

*dpm* I'm going to register two of my own half-hearted goals (nothing special, given the thousands of words the rest of you have committed to, but better than nothing), to be completed before Feb 10th when I start work.
- Edit the short story I finished off earlier in the week.
- Get my second book ready to send out to agents, which involves one more edit, the writing of a synopsis (either a page-long one or a couple of pages; I'll have to see what the various agents I want to hassle actually want) and the writing of a query letter.
I'm hoping the edit will be really quick. It's had two very comprehensive edits already, one with a friend's assistance, but I know there are some weaker chapters. It has 24 chapters - five or six are short (< 2k words), but the rest are my usual length (4k-10k). It's sitting on 100k at the moment.
I read the first chapter today (one of the short ones - 1300 words) and I _think_ it's as clean as my writing ability at this point in time can make it (in other words, not at all close to perfect but I'm incapable of making it shinier). I did a couple of tweaks but nothing larger. Fingers crossed the rest of it is as easy. There's a new chapter I added last time I edited; I imagine that'll need a bit of revision.
Excellent goals! Good luck with them (and huzzah for joining us). :D

[act]Grugs [/act]for your chickens and well done on the words.
So sorry about your chickens - I hope they are on the mend soon.
Maybe you can join us again on Wednesday and be even more inspired to write? :D
Words? Darga has words Shonk has not yet read? [act]grabby hands[/act]
And.... With yesterday's lovely little write-in, you Obernet ladies and gentlemen have pushed the OberNoWriSu word total ABOVE 150k!
Be proud. Be very, very proud :D :D :D.

*dpm* I'm about a third of the way through my edit. It's not a very comprehensive one, and I'll admit that my book was really boring me as I started out. But as I read the last chapter I think I 'got' the flow I was going for again, so I quickly reread the early stuff, and hopefully it's not as bad as I first thought... Or if it is, hopefully the rest of it won't be as tedious to sift through!!
Edit: More than halfway through now (14th Jan). Chapter 13 was a bit of a bugger yesterday but 14 and 15 went more smoothly. Hopefully I'm not just deluding myself :P.
Edit: As of 20th Jan, three more chapters to go. The last couple have again been quick and reasonably clean. Anyway, reasonably happy - looks like I'll get through this edit easily in the time allotted. Next step will be to write the query letter and synopsis. I hate query letters and synopses.
199,600 words people!!!!!!!!!!! Are you guys amazing, or what?
