Personally, I prefer the series of Ghost in the Shell to the movies - although I guess the movies do set up a bit for the series, but then again I haven't seen both the movies, and I can follow the series just fine. I'm quite into the 2nd series at the moment - 2nd Gig, but people seem to like the first Stand Alone complex better.
Full Metal Alchemist [img]http://s3.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif" alt=":D" border="0"/> [img]http://s3.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif" alt=":D" border="0"/> It seems I could rant on about this all day. Hehe - like I said the movie is more just a spin off from the series but the series is pretty damn brilliant - if you like anime you
must check it out. Firstly, 'Human kind cannot gain anything without first giving up something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost - that is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange.' Two young brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, live in a world where alchemy exists and are extremely gifted for their age. Their father left long ago and so when their mother dies, the boys are devestated and through the use of Alchemy attempt to bring her back to life. However, this does not go according to plan - not only does their mother not come back, but Edward loses his leg and arm and Alphonse his entire body. The two boys now are set on trying to bring their bodies back to their original form through the use of the Philosopher's stone - a mythical stone said to be able to perform alchemy without equivalent exhange. However, chasing myths and legends is not and easy task and it seems that the two brothers are not the only ones after the legendary stone...
Hehe as for Read or Die... Linja recommended it to me - so I must be checking it out - I don't know as much about this one... but if you check out
this thread somewhere here, she gives a brief explanation to me - as to not spoil anything [img]http://s3.images.proboards.com/wink.gif" alt=";)" border="0"/>
And Akira.... I hardly know anything about this... except something to do with post WWIII in Tokyo and there are motorbikes - woo I know sounds great doesn't it, but like I said, everyone says it was the pioneer for Japanimation in America so I thought I'd better see what it is all about.
