It's just been revealed that back in April, JK Rowling's second book after Harry Potter was published. But this time, she published under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith. It's called The Cuckoo's Calling, and is a crime, mystery novel. It's already been approved to be made into a BBC TV 'thing', just like The Causal Vacancy. Not sure why she admitted to being the pseudonym, since she said she wished it lasted longer! Off to find a copy!
Yeah I saw that, it doesn't look good for that law firm, I don't think she'll be using them again. The story about how it was exposed is quite interesting, and it has been 'thickening' over the last few days. Can't blame her for being angry about it being leaked out. And now of course the book has become an instant success, just because everyone knew it was by JK, it's sold out in lots of places, and I think sales went up by like 24,000% overnight.
She's said she is going to continue the 'series' under Galbraith's name. I have a copy, but I haven't yet started it, though I am convinced that JK probably will do a very good job at mystery, she is just so good at leaving clues hiding in plain sight and having twists and turns, just what a good crime novel needs! I'm really excited to start reading it though!
I wonder if she'll try to publish under a pseudonym again (or has she already done so with another book?), and I think if she does, she'll make sure things are more tightly controlled.
Well do let us know when you get around to reading and what you think, just because I am pathetic and probably will end up getting it anyway, even though it is crime. ~:|

So far I have successfully managed to not read the title and with any luck I will forget the pseudonym. On this basis I hope to continue on in blissful ignorance and only pick the book up if I would have done otherwise. This is my rather pointless and silly plan for showing respect to one of favourite authors.
I was interested in reading this, since I love crime and mystery novels, and yet the name she chose makes me think of Stephen Kings pseudonym - Robert Bachmann? I think? I own the Casual Vacancy, but still haven't read it. Game of Thrones got in the way. I am glad she is branching out into other genres, because it shows she is a versatile writer. And everyone praised the novel without knowing it was her, so it must be good.

Bob's just a cool name, I think :nods: I know if I were to ever write under pseudonym I would write under the name Boris Oswald Bridges but I would have my name initialised on the cover so that it would read BOB, and when I got popular they would start printing the name bigger than the title of the books so there would just be all these books around with giant BOBs on the covers.
That is the dream anyway.
(and sorry that was slightly off-topic)
Ahaha sounds like an interesting idea Shonk, would be very interesting to see BOB everywhere. Just saying I used to have an obsession with that name when I was younger...
She actually has another one coming out soon under that name. I work in a book store and I know heaps of people are waiting for it!
Yes there's a sequel coming out called The Silkworm coming out this June. I started reading it and got to partway through the second section, but sorta stopped.... It wasn't like it was bad, but I just got sidetracked and now have heaps of other books to read. BUT I WILL get around to it before June! (perhaps.)
So I actually finally finished reading The Cuckoo's Calling, and I really liked it. It was a pretty good murder mystery (even if I haven't read that many to have that great a knowledge about what a good murder mystery is). And the sequel is coming out this week.
