I really like this idea! I never would have thought of it, but it fits somehow. I'm not sure that it's what Soonkar thinks, though.
It makes me think of
The Legendsong of the Unykorn itself, for it says that the Unykorn was searching not for the Song itself but for
its Singer:
Shenavyre sang in a voice as fair as her face
and sweet as her soul.
Hearing her, the Firstmade
remembered the Song of its own Making
and understood that all along it had been searching
- not for the Song, but for its Singer ...
This reminds me of the musician Peter Cade, who in one of the segues was looking for the Song at the heart of Chaos. If Ember were the original Singer, it makes sense that the Song would be within all of her songs, even the ones composed to her death.
I would never have thought of Ember's singing the mountain into existence as anything other than delusion, but what if that was just the closest analogy offered up by her muddled mind.
I just came across Ember’s thoughts about the same subject: “…perhaps music was only ever a reflection of the singer, no matter what the subject matter. And what did this mean on a world where all things were supposed to have arisen from a song?
And who, she wondered, following the fascinating thread of thought, had been the singer of the Song? No song or conversation she had heard had addressed that question. Was it possible for there to be a song
without a singer? In her own world God was supposed to have created a word before anything else, but the bible also said that this word had
been God and God had been the word. No one ever spoke of gods on Keltor but perhaps it could be said that the Song was God here and God was a song.†(Darksong, 397)
Kind of amusing in the context of the current topic. :P But I like the idea that in her 3-day coma Ember could have created a world.
I think it could be possible - time in a coma is different to outside time, plus perhaps the timelines between the two worlds are very different, or people don’t always cross in a linear fashion. (Otherwise she would have created Keltor, and then gone there just a few years later for her, except that it had existed for centuries/millennia/aeons (?).)
