What I wonder is why Glynna so desperately wanted the woman to take the cat, and why she doesn't even seem to think of it anymore. Wouldn't the companionship have been a good thing?'It had been given to her by a family with whom she had once stayed for months. She had nursed one of the daughters, who had been dying of a tumour. She had not wanted a cat, but when the blonde daughter offered it, she sensed the girl needed her to take it. All attention in the family had been focused on the ailing daughter, and half the time neither the parents nor anyone else seemed to notice the other one.'

That all makes sense. I'd thought of Glynna being on the periphery, but I guess I thought the cat would have given her something she could help - you can't fight cancer, and indifference may be no easier to overcome. That said, your suggestion does work very well. And why she gave the cat to that woman - maybe void-Wind somehow influenced her?Why Glynna would want that woman specifically to take the cat I'm not sure, but I always thought Glynna gave the cat away because everyones time was dedicated to Ember, even Glynna's despite the fact that her parents were still alive at that point. Perhaps it's an indication of just how time absorbing the tumor was, that the cat couldnt be cared for, and Glynna was left on the periphery most of the time.
