Greetings Obernetters,
Planning for the 2010 Moonfair has begun! Please read the following info, and if there are any questions, you can reply to this thread.
For the newbies:Obernewtyn.net holds an annual online Moonfair. In the past, typical activities have included games, puzzles, treasure hunts, writing and art comps, recipes, quizzes, storyboards...anything goes! Planning starts as of now, until the middle of August. The Moonfair itself runs from
September 1st to October 31st.
During Moonfair itself, the aim is to earn as many points for your guild as possible, and to have as much fun as possible too! The guild that earns the most points wins the illustrious Moonfair Cup.
Pointage:Moonfair points will all be tallied as usual, however instead of adding entire total of points accumulated to guild total, we will award 100 points to first place, 80 points to second, 60 to third and 50 to last.
This is to ensure that the guild that wins Moonfair doesn't automatically win the Ongoing Guild comp as well.
Competitions:Guilds: Guilds this year are encouraged to come up with 1 large-ish competition, and also host a sub-board, for the duration of Moonfair. The sub-board can include regular Moonfair favourites, such as Mystics Fortune Telling, and Dreamweaver's Story Board. So that Guild leaders aren't pressured to come up with idea after idea, official Guild competitions are limited to these two this year.
Categorised Competitions: Similar to the last few year's structure, we are after energetic, enthusiastic members to come up with, plan and organise competitions for Moonfair, to fit into a variety of Categories. It doesn't matter if you and your organisers are from the same guild, different guilds, or not part of a guild at all.
The Categories are:
- Artwork (where the entrant must submit an image)
- Writing (where the entrant must submit a story or play)
- Puzzle / Quiz (where the entrant must put a series of clues together or complete an on-screen puzzle, crossword, quiz etc)
- Misc (anything that doesn't fit in the above three)
We encourage members to come up with small competitions that don't take so long to enter this year (some of the competitions in previous years were EPIC - perhaps too much so!).
Quizzes are restricted to 15 questions. Writing competitions are restricted to 1000 words. If you need people to find hidden items around the site/forums, you're restricted to hiding a maximum of 10 items. Etc. If you have any doubts or queries over this, please ask.
If you have an idea for a competition, please see the Competition Guidelines & Submission for information on how to submit your idea to the MoonfairiesThemesAs usual, we'll be having two themes; a colour-scheme related one to determine the colours of the site, and a book related one to help create your competitions.
This is the 11th anniversary of Obernewtyn.net, and so we are using the colour scheme theme of Steel.
There will be no individual guild themes - but there will be individual guild links on the Moonfair website, to accommodate the Guild competition and hosted forum.
The overall book related theme is
The Beforetime.
Moonies Moonfairies this year are:
Min,
MK,
Tanya,
Lioness, and
AgyllianMoonie Level Web (MLW's) - so far:
Min,
MK,
Elspethinnle.
We're not after volunteers this year; instead people will be invited to become MLW's who've helped in the past. This is to ensure that the work is evenly spread out and done in a timely fashion, based on past Moonfair experiences.
The
Ober Awards Ceremony will take place as per usual - details to come in their own post.
That's about it for now. This thread will be updated as new information surfaces. If you have any questions, please post them here.
