I haven't started any for this though 8-| What am I designing stuff for this on my sleep?
Bleh anyway I think I want to do some lesser known/popular character but there are such lacking descriptions for a lot of them <_<

I've technically started something. I'm trying to draw Selmar before Vega and Alexi got to her (theory being that I'm a Misfit => I can draw people I haven't even met, and Rushton, Gevan, Maryon and co would like a portrait to remember her by). I have a rough draft done atm, but since I suck, it might not go beyond this.

I've been looking around the net for possible pictures. I've found some for Elspeth and Rushton. I've tried photoshopping them but I'm going to have to fiddle with them a bit before I like the look of them enough :P If only I had drawing skills [act]sigh[/act]
I'm working on a portrait of Elspeth and Rushton as seen from the point of view of an mysical Sadorian artist. Well, we'll see how it goes :P
ugh, I drew in my scetchpad some semi-realistic pics of Elspeth and Ariel (headshots) and now I am working on digitally painting them. I get the feeling it is not coming out well. Can we post WIPs?

You can definitely post your works in progress for feedback. :) At least you've started early - I'm sure you'll sort it out in no time! :)
I was playing around with my Bamboo pad and may actually manage to make something worth submitting!
Is there a specific size (I mean actual dimentions, not file size) that these things are supposed to be?

The site will auto-resize anything it thinks is too large (yes, dimension-wise), but it's still better to resize it before uploading anyway, so you have control over the resolution. I'd suggest a max of 600px in any direction (height or width).
I really want to enter this one, but I'm lost for who to [strike]pick on[/strike] choose.
I think I'd like to do a portrait of Cassy as she's drawing the flamebird and hearing it's voice for the first time. The annoying thing is I can't seem to find the scene anywhere in the books >< this always happens when I want to reference something :(
-Kenzie, I love the drawing of elspeth, the expression suits her down to a tee :)

Avalenne, I belive the scene you're after is in chpater 21 of The Keeping Place, pg 422. I love your idea :D
Thank you so much :D
Now getting started is gunna be a ton easier :)
I'm almost done mine :) I just need to do some touch ups to the background, but after about 6 versions I'm finally more or less happy with how it's turning out --- I was having trouble getting his lovely smirk to look like a lovely smirk (one guess as to who it's of, btw |:| ).
How's everyone else doing with theirs?
LMAO Ama. Of course you'd do a portrait of Ariel :P
*is failing* I'm determined to spend the night doing this...
I'm undecided about who to draw though. I've started drawing Elspeth and Dragon 5 million times but maybe I should go for someone else a bit less obvious. *sigh* I don't know x_X
Is this a comp you can enter more than once? 'Cause I have this thing of Bruna I did a while back and I was wondering if I should/could enter it, too (assuming I get it polished up in time).
Either way, I got my Ariel entry in :-" I'm not exactly an arty person, but I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out.
I am feeling better about the pictures I made now. I finally have time to commit to this contest...I've been so busy lately!
I submitted one of dragon the other day :>
But Gilbert IS a creepy stalker!
Re: how manly Ariel looked... [strike]that's 'cause I based his facial structure off a pic of a smirking David Hewlett. It was the only way I could get the facial expression right |:|[/strike] yes. It was triky.
Actually, my first 5 versions came out very feminine-looking. That was the main reason I decided not to use them.
Kenzie, I agree. Your Dragon is lovely. And Moondream (if you even read these posts) your Elf is very good, too
This is such a great idea for a competition. I wish more people would enter! I'd love to see everyone's work :)

Arghh!! I decided [sub][sub]spotaneously[/sub][/sub] to work on something for this competition, and it's looking really good - the best piece I have ever done - but I have run out of time! I don't think it will be ready to had in by later tonight. :"(
What's worse is that I'm having trouble with the hair. I am drawing Elspeth and I am really happy with the face but I have never drawn realistic hair before and I am not sure how. :| ~:| It is such a pain but I don't think I am going to be able to make the deadline for this comp. Maybe I will just have to put it up later this week, not as part of the comp. How sad. I have worked so hard on it. :"( Oh well. Next time. :)
Edit: Oh, if anyone has any good tips on drawing realistic hair, would they mind sharing them? Either put it in here or pm me, I don't mind. I just really need some tips. ~:|
Submission date has been extended to the 11th April, so get drawing BM! And anyone else who's still working on an entry - there's now 2 more weeks to go!
Oh, I ended up drawing Dragon the other day. I think I'll enter. Just have to wait for my stupid computer to get fixed, so I can enter it. *grumbles*
I luff everyone's submissions so far! :D
