Moth's Tale

Synopsis & covers

Wilfuleye
Characters transgress, they yearn, they hunger, they love, they hate, and, sometimes, they kill.

None of the resulting tales belong in a nursery: these are provocative stories of enchantment, jealousy and deception, as well as courage, daring and passion.

Each story is a gift to savour.

Excerpt from Isobelle's short story, titled Moth's Tale:
"Moth’s father was a foolish, impulsive, prideful man. One day he decided to go before the king with some other men, to propose a festival. He was a miller and the other men were variously a grain farmer, a cow herder, a baker and an orchardist and each of them called himself the master of his trade. Their idea was a festival that would involve an orgy of breadmaking and cakedevouring from which they would reap the profits..."

Reviews / Recommendations: 'The writers in The Wilful Eye imbue all of their characters, including the villains, with a deep sense of psychological realism, producing often tender, engaging, and insightful results. Unnamed soldiers and hideous beasts are given a voice, even if that voice is at times unsettling, and wolves are still wolves, however they disguise themselves.' Australian Book Review 'sublime, with each tale landing a punch squarely between the old and the new, bewitching and terrifying.' Australian Bookseller & Publisher Purchase The Wilful Eye online:
